Chase,

Making 550rwhp and 510 rwtq now to the wheels.

Drive my car every day 50 miles mostly on the freeway... a few times a year I'll take it to the strip.

I'm guessing the 4.10's are over kill for me. I only run on street tires. no dr's

also, does lowering the gear ratio increse or decrease the stresses to the axles?

Once you break that 550+rwhp range I generally recommend dialing back to the 3.73s. Since you drive your car daily I would definitely go that route. The lower ratio is going to create some additional stress on the axles but not substantially.

I'm curious. Why bother then the stock gears are 3.45 (or something like that). Will an upgrade to 3.73's make a big difference at over 500rwhp.? Why not go to the 4.10's?

Going from the 3.45s to 3.73s you would realize an equivalent torque gain of almost 10%, or about 42 lb.-ft. on a stock motor. You are definitely going to notice, especially on a highly modified car when you are looking for every last bit of performance. The main reasons I recommend dialing back from the 4.10s are traction and strength issues.
