Spoiler Bolt Cover Lost, Need Help..

Hello All,

Last night I was removing my SS's factory spolier in preparation for rally stripe installation and I lost one of the small circular rubber covers that cover the spoiler bolts. It's a small round rubber piece a little bigger than a quarter. As I popped it out, it fell under the triangular black piece that kind of covers the rear tail lights. I popped out the 3 buttons that hold the piece down and reached down under the inner rear tail light on the passenger side. I felt the piece fall further down where I could no longer reach it. There seems to be a deep cavern it fell into. There is a chute that flows down under the tail lights. I think it's a water drain for rain. I got a spot light and went under the car but could not see the piece anywhere.

Can anyone tell me how to retrieve it?

Last night I viewed a video on youtube of rear tail light removal but I don't know if it will help..

I have not driven the car yet, so I know it's down there somewhere..

Any help is greatly appreciated..

Joe

I hope you can find it. My dealer ruined one while tightening the bolts. They ordered a new set and are completely different. I asked If I could just get the one that was missing and he said they couldn't, they had to replace all of them. I said forget it and now am missing one.

Vacuum cleaner?

I know that this is going to sound crazy but here's my off the top of the head thought.

Duct tape a piece of small diameter split loom to the end of your vacuum cleaner wand and shove the loom down the hole.

Just a thought man .

Edit - Or buy some fish tank hose and duct tape that to the end of the vacuum wand. Don't run the vacuum like this too long or you'll burn out the motor.

go to harbor freight or the tool store. There is a long spring loaded little claw that is made for extracting small objects from tight places. They are cheap and you will get plenty of use out it.

use the vacuum idea.....and use the fish tank tube......should work like a champ. that is exactly what I would have done......I have done something exactly like that before to retrieve small parts at work.

Yep. If you can't find the one you dropped, they are going to have to order you a new one. I lost mine and ordered a new one. It took about a week and was completely different than the stock ones. STUPID. I have no idea why they can' keep them the same. Whatever...

Did you try a telescoping magnet, or a small magnet on a string?

It's made out of rubber. Now how is a magnet suppose to work?

Some people really need to go back to elementary school and learn how to READ!!!!
