Blowout!

I was driving around tonight and drove my car into this big, desolate parking lot to see it I could bread the tires loose. My tires were reading about 38 psi. The first thing I did was go into a hard turn and punch it. (I have an automatic)
All nannies were off etc.
It broke loose and when I recovered it bit hard and gained traction back well.
Then I heard a hissing sound and my low psi light came on.
My front driver side pirelli went from 38 psi to 0 in about 20 seconds
Tried the tire sealant and inflator kit but it just spewed out onto the ground. My tire is toast.
Called OnStar
Im taking it to the dealer first thing in the morning because I have the tire warranty.

Im going to leave out certain details when I tell them what happened

But my question to y'all is this:
That shouldn't blow my tire like that should it?
They have 6500 miles on them of 99% easy driving. This was the first time I've tried this...

Not that it has anything to do with your case, but you should be carefull when turning the wheel all the way to one side and jumping on it. I was reading posts yeaterday that said that could cause the power steering hoses to burst from too much pressure or cause the pump to stick. Good luck at the dealer tomorrow.

just make sure that you have a good story. if you dont make it sound like it was a road hazard they will not replace the tire.

Sounds like you put so much force on the side wall when turning and accelerating, that you popped the bead of the tire off. Was their a hole, or did the sealant come out the side?

This is my guess, the tire might be fine just needs to be reset and re-inflated. You could always get a can of either.

NO seriously don't get a can of either though, I've seen tires explode .

There is a 3.5 inch rip across the tread of the tire. It's weird to me because there is no sidewall damage.

i think you just got a nail or something, if you would have poped a bead then you would hear a bang, and not the hissing sound you mentioned.

It was just tough luck i guess.

Thanks and I was careful not to put full deflection on the steering wheel.
Just enough to get a lil sideways

I'd say that since it was a desolate parking lot and night, you may have hit something in the pavement that tore the tread...

Its an empty college football stadium parking lot and I checked it out earlier today before it got dark... But who knows. It doesn't take much...

Gotcha, I've never used either myself but I've seen it used a couple times, amazing yet scary way to get a tire on a rim, lol.
