how does gen 5 camaro rate as every day driver?

i am just about decided to purchase a camaro ss which i intend to use as my daily driver. i am a real estate broker and so i spend a lot of time in my car and want to make sure that i am making a sensible, and not totally emotional, decision. i love the car, just wondered what you thought!

If you don't mind 16-17 mpg city(I am a heavy footer) it is a great car, handles well, great acceleration, and alot of fun. It takes some time getting used to a few blind spots when backing up but on the road the car won't do you wrong, IMO. So for a daily driver that is cost effective, no, for a daily driver that can fix a bad day...yes!

I was one of you back in my past. Sorry not enough room and it might give the wrong impression to some.

backing up sucks, but I think the newer models have sensors now to make it easier. Otherwise, it is an awesome daily driver!! Great gas mileage (I'm getting over 21 mpg combined since I bought it in my ss 6sp), and very comfortable on longer trips.

thanks - thats what i figured - i currently drive a 300 C and so my gas mileage is around 18 anyway - no big changes there, i was more concerned about how comfortable it was - but sounds like you are telling me what i thought - my bad mood will disintegrate when i get into my car!! do you use premium gas in yours?

i did wonder about how people's perceptions would be affected - but hey, i decided that i very seldom take anyone in my car and frankly what other people think is becoming less important to me by the year!!

As a daily driver I d still go with the V-6, not that Im not secretly lusting after V-8 myself. Its an internal struggle. I love the V-6 enough to want to get the V-8, but would I feel the extra difference after I got the V-8? Not sure. Either way you go, get the RS package and get a clear bra for it. Remote start is great for winter also. I would make sure the dealer threw in the clear bra and installed it for you. Big gripe has been the paint chipping on the front, especially if you drive that much.

Although I don't daily drive mine because it only comes out on nice days, I think it would be great. It's much smoother and more comfortable than I expected. Very easy to drive and the blind spots really aren't that bad, it just takes some getting used to. I was also very impressed on how quiet it is on the inside under normal driving, along with the trunk space, I expected it to be smaller for what it is.

Don't expect to go and buy 2 weeks worth of groceries for your family and get it to fit in the car, and don't expect back seat passengers to be comfortable either lol unless they are short. I'm 5'8 and when I sit straight up my head touches the roof in the rear seat.

If you can look past a few things I think it's a great daily driver.

It's the best DD i have ever had.

Better than both my Acura RL and Benz S-Class.

Yes, it is very comfortable. Yes, it will fix a bad day. I drive a 1SS and I do put premium gas into my car. I sold my Pontiac G6 for this car and have absolutely no regrets. Bottom line, if you can afford it...there should be no other questions.

Now I just bought mine on Saturday, but I am using it for an every day driver. So, far I am loving it. Not as much inside storage room as I am use to, but to many other things make up for that. I was also worried being 5'10" and my husband is over 6', but really it is a sweet ride with plenty of room.

Mine has been my daily driver and I've put 19,470 on it. I love it and find it to be a good daily driver. I'm averaging 18.7 MPG and that's doing about 60 city/40 hwy driving.

As long as you don't carry passengers in your work as a realtor, you'll be fine. Just consider the mileage (premium fuel only) and the oil changes (8 quarts of synthetic). If you are not worried about that, go for it! But it is pretty flashy so just consider how your clients will view you ("maybe this guy doesn't need my money..."). The number one question I'm asked is "how much did you pay for that?" and they never believe me when I tell them.

As long as you don't mind people constantly asking questions about it and giving you compliments at every gas station, mall, and grocery store. Then well yes it's a great DD. SS manual getting around 15 mpg driving it like I stole it.On the highway mid 20's. The car is very comfortable and you get used to it's size after a short while.

the premium gas and oil changes will be interesting ... that will add about 20% to my cost, but i am getting the feeling that this is a no-brainer!!! people thinking it costs more than it does is funny to me, when i downgraded from my durango to my 300C nobody believed me and now downgrading to my camaro they are going to believe me even less

I haven't dared to even attempt to sit in the back - some things were not meant to be. The V6 is a sweetheart as a DD, with decent mileage to boot.

For me I needed a DD and opted for the v6 mostly because that's all that came with the synergy color at the time. Insurance is less, gas is less and it will handily get you to 146 should you have the desire. I'm not gonna win any races but oddly I have never gotten into a race on my way to/from work ever.

Works great as a DD very comfortable and gets great smiles per mile.
