That is sweet that the fog lights are going to be the driving lights. I hadn't heard what the driving lights where going to be and i am happy they are going to be the fog lights.

All the pics I've seen have shown the halo's as the DRL's.

Not really. Seems pretty easy to me to see the halo's with the lights on.

sorry, but i don't think DRLs come on at night. at least on my truck, when it starts to get dark, it turns the DRLs off & the headlights on.

yes. that is until you turn on the fog lights
they don't look as bright in the pic because you're above the plane of the lights. get lower... say road level, & they'll be plenty bright.

sorry, i was looking at the other pic.

Are just the halos HID or are the actual headlights HID as well?

This is what the headlight will look like against a wall. The reason that they always look dim, or like they won't light up the road is because you are looking at them above that cut off line.

The way projector HIDs work is they give a SHARP cutoff of light. This is to keep from blinding people in oncoming traffic or in front of you with your headlights. If your viewing perspective is above the cutoff, then you're going to see a dot, not massive glare. Do not confuse glare with brightness. HID glare is what blinds people in the dark; it's a function of poorly aimed headlights. Brightness is how much light is being put out.

Headlights's are HIDs.

Halos are definitely not HID.

Probably CCFL.

Quite the opposite, the actual headlights are HID and the halos aren't.

Every car that I've seen or drove have the DRL's on even at night.

There is a vid as well as some pics of a red RS pulling into a garage where you can see the halo's are on when outside and inside in the dark.

That will not happen here. Some states do not allow people to run fog lights when encountering head-on traffic at night. Since all RS cars will have the fog lights as DRL's, they will have to turn off once the headlights turn on.

I gather the non RS cars signal lights (which will be the DRL's) will operate exactly the same way as our 4th gen cars DRL's work. The light intensity from the signal light diminishes as soon as the headlights are turned on.

I have yet to see a 5th gen Camaro with the proper DRL set-up so don't go by any pictures/videos that are out there right now. We still do not have any pre-production cars.

On BMW's they are always on, or at least they are on durring the day. I haven't done enough night driving to notice if BMW's have them on at night as well.
