GM EXTENDED WARRANTY?

Got the call today that my 2011 2SS CGM AUTO RS has arrived at my dealership. Pretty cool since I never ordered and they had one exactly like I wanted on a railcar!

Does anyone have advise on the GM Extended Warranties? Looking at 5-7 years..100,000. Any idea on pricing or negotiating price? Want to be ready tomorrow! I only want info on GMPP, not third parties. What have you guys been paying?

don't get the extended warranty, rather, when your factory warranty expires, slap on twin snails and call it a day...

GMPP warranty starts when you buy it, so you should wait until the factory warranty is about to expire, and then buy it. Otherwise, the factory warranty and extended warranty overlap.
On my Z06, I waited until the 36 month warranty was almost up, then bought a 60 month / 40,000 mile GMPP warranty.
You do not have to buy warranty from your local dealer, so shop on the internet. I got $500 off what my local dealer wanted to sell the same warranty for.
The lowest rates I found were at Ross Downing Chevrolet in Louisiana.

It's much costlier to get it when the factory warranty is about to expire, even if you do find it online. I figured out how long I would probably keep the car and added the appropriate number of years/miles and just bought it when I bought the car.

I had the GMPP on my last vehicle, purchased right when the original was going to expire and it cost me about double what it would have cost when the car was new. It did pay for itself though when I had it in for a few issues.

You can buy the extended warranty right up until the day your factory one expires provided you havent voided it.

Best price I could find for GMPP Major Guard, period. I checked multiple online sites, in person at dealerships, including at the time I purchased my car and also checked into the discounted prices from Camaro5.com dealers. Closest anyone else could get was $200 higher.

If you wait until you are just before either the 12 month or 12,000 mile mark (depending on which you hit first), you can still quality for new car pricing, thereby extending your coverage by either 12mo or 12k miles.

I bought mine (72mo,100k, $100deductible) for $1391. I didn't buy it until I had 11,500 miles on the car so I'm covered pretty much bumper to bumper out to 111,500 miles. Once they had everything set up, I had my dealer's service department verify my VIN was tagged as having the GMPP coverage.

I won't buy anything but GMPP for coverage on my GM vehicles. I've been burned by too many 3rd party plans in the past but the 3 GMPP plans I've had were easy to deal with and I never had a problem getting repairs covered.

Yep I got the extended 6yr $100 deductible bumper to bumper, tire, Interior...basically almost everything covered for the duration of the loan plus some... Not taking my chances on a first year production car.

If you look at the cost per month of coverage, it is about the same no matter when you buy it, unless you have high mileage. If the car is above about 36,000 miles, then the cost does increase significantly.
You have to remember that if you buy when the car is new, there are 36 months of factory warranty that you are not really paying for. For example, if you buy 5 years of coverage when the car is new, you are only getting 2 more years of extra coverage. If you wait until the end of the factory warranty and buy 5 years of coverage, you are getting the full 5 extra years.
