Well the L99 is a great engine but when you have the LS3 with the manual its just that feeling of the classic power and performance. To me I think it just is the fact of having a stick.

To me, the biggest difference is the AFM. It can be tuned out, but for those that don't tune their car because they want to retain their warrantee, I've heard it's kind of annoying.

Stock for Stock, the comparisons have been done ad nauseum on the boards (Manual is faster!! , Automatics are most consistent!), but they are both great cars.

I prefer the manual because it's just more fun to drive it that way.

My L99 with Roto Fab CAI, Kooks17/8" headers along with Magna Flow Competition Exhaust and Dyno tuned is a QUICK SCOOT! (rhp 364).

Tuned out the AFM...so much better. MPG still about the same...20.3 vs 20.0 mixed conditions.

When your car pushes you back in the seat and snaps your head back when you hit the gas pedal then I would not worry about automatic vs manual.

My L99 does both and it is quick enough for me.

The Camaro is so much a sports car!

Nothing wrong with the auto SS at all, it is a Chevy Musclecar notheless. Some days I wish I got the auto, some days I am glad I got the manual. I never ever wish I got the musclecar look-alike V6.

I have had both auto and stick muscle cars, my opinion its hard to beat a built or tuned auto at the dragstrip. My SS auto stock except for drop in k-n filter went 12.95 at 107, not bad for a slushbox.

I have 19,275 on my L99 and I've loved every mile I've put on it. I like both the LS3 and L99 but I wanted the auto and don't regret it.

My now 10,000 mile slushbox is damn fast stock. It's got that neck popping get up and go. You will outrun 95% or more of the manuals out there (Well their drivers anyway), despite what everyone claims they are not professional drivers.
The Auto is perfect... Every time... and they are not.
Be happy with that slushbox my friend and welcome to the club

L99

Had my Camaro since 11/6, and 3500+ miles... I love this engine. I think both engines are too quiet, when stock... you need to get a CAI, at least, to give some sound to your engine (no matter which). From day 1 (3 miles), this engine has run like a monster (the brutally fast kind)!

I do miss rowing through the gears, and the tap shift just isn't/won't ever be the same. :(
But I don't miss the damn clutch in LA traffic.

Never doubted the L99. Good to know so many people are satisfied with theirs - I've driven one and I know once mine is in I couldnt be happier.

Unless, there comes our way a Z28 auto.......................

I want the extra horsepower of the LS3, I want the fuel mileage of the L99 and I want the neck snapping shift of an automatic tranny with a shift kit. In time I will get it after the warranty is gone.

True. I've driven both stock and prefer my LS3. I don't really have enough seat time to become comfortably playful with the L99, but that will change soon.

Now once the mods begin... tbd...

DITTO! (Except for the 18K miles thing...I only have 7800) I've beat every LS3 I've come up against so far. I did get beat by another L99 with more mods than mine though....guess I'll have to work on that!
