Crazy for thinking of selling my '68 and getting a 2010
This is my first post but I've been coming to this site for a while now. I have to agree with another member, GameOver620, for saying this site is like crack. I can't stop checking the site, looking for new updates and pictures.
The problem is that I've become so hooked on the 2010 that I am thinking of selling my '68. I've had the car since 1990, over half my life and have never thought of selling it until now. I attached a picture of my car and can't believe I'm thinking of selling it but at the same time the new one is nice. So am I crazy or not? |

Farewell 2010 1LT/RS...
|
Just something to think about....fast forward 10 years....how much is each car worth at that time?
I've owned and sold a 1955 Chevy Bel Air, a 1956 Chevy 210 Wagon, and a 1956 Chevy Bel Air Wagon. For all three, I never lost a dime on them, including purchase price, upgrades, and maintenance, when I sold them. Old cars hold their value over time and are like a savings account you can actually enjoy while you have it. With a 2010 Camaro, it's going to depreciate, a lot, for years until it starts to appreciate like your '68 is right now. Garage the '68 and sell the Avalanche in the background instead.

I also agree that this site really is like crack. And all the SEMA news isn't helping any.

Sell the Avalanche, hmm..... I hadn't thought of that one, not a bad idea. Best case would be to have a 2010 with the same color scheme sitting right next to my '68. That would be awesome. I have to start playing the lottery!!!

I've got a 68 and an 87 with a 2010 on the way. The 87 is the likely candidate to go unless I can talk my wife into having all three cars. I will NOT be selling my 68 any time soon. I would keep the 68 since it's been in the family for so long. It would be like selling a family member that you love and would miss (and regret selling!).

I would keep the 68 for sure. Hold out on the purchase of a new one till you can afford the downpayment.

I regretted selling my 87 IROC so much that I bought it back the first chance I got - that's the biggest reason I'm second guessing selling it now. I think I could stand it though if I really love the 2010 like I think I will. I know for sure I will not be selling the 68 as it's been in my family since 86.

Back in about '91 a buddy of mine had an IROC and wanted to trade. It was a nice car. That's my second favorite body style after the '67 - '69. |

If you don't owe anything on it why sell it? I say keep it and order the 2010. Trust me; you'll regret it the minute the new owner drives off in it...

Yeah, I don't owe anything on the '68, but the issue is affording the payment on the 2010. I do think you guys are helping me to come to my senses though. I'll have the Avalanche paid off in 4 years, maybe hold off 'till then.

No, those are fiberglass flares in the rear. I guess it was a cheaper alternative to tubbing it and it gives it a really mean stance. I attached a couple more pics for different angles. |

Here's my two cents.
Every person on this board is a car enthusiast, and especially a Camaro enthusiast. No matter who you ask everyone will say that you should keep the car. Especially since it's a '67-'69 which is like the holy grail of Camaros, and I doubt anyone here would disagree with me. And trust me I know how it feels to get rid of a car you like. I'm looking to sell my '74 wnem I'm ready to buy a new car but even though it's not as amazing as yours I am very well attached to it. Now the Avalanche you say are about to pay off in 4 years. By way of my uneducated guessing i'm going to say that trying to sell it would be a pain in the @$$. Mostly because of the way the economy is right now and the ups and downs of gas prices. My parents and I recently tried to sell our 2006 Durango and needless to say that we walked out of the whole experience wishing we had never bought it. So in summary, I would keep that beautiful Camaro and try to pay off the Avalanche before buying a new car. But if you can afford it, hey who's stopping you? Right? Maybe if you wait a little longer you can get your hands on a slightly used2010 that you like and buy it for a lot less. But that's just one person's opinion it's all up to you. ![]()

I would definitely keep the '68 just for its sheer beauty. Well modified.

You can't be serious! Don't get rid of that beautiful car! The new camaro can wait, getting rid of that '68 will sting forever, trust me. I watched my dad get rid of his '67 and '69 Z28 and he doesn't go a day without regretting it. Don't do it for your sanity!

First, welcome!
And thanks for joining. If you can afford to, my personal opinion; KEEP THE '68! And get a 5th Gen.! ![]() I'm going through a similar dilemma. I love my '99, but can't justify keeping it, buying the 5th Gen., and having 3 cars. So, I'm not sure what to do. :(But as I said, if you can afford both, KEEP THE '68! It's beautiful. |
