Talking Nice

Beautiful renditions there. Very nicely done, I have to admit, it is very appealing to me as well, but I gotta stay Camaro all the way!

If you build it they will come!

It’s not sacrilege. Think of the Firebird as a fraternal twin, same mother and father, two different eggs in the womb… LOL

I'm sorry but the designer of these pics is a friggin genious. those pics are sick!!!
If only I were totally rich enough to have one designed for myself right now!!!

You know what is so awesome about these new rides ? even though we are concerned about ride quality and fuel economy , We have now something that has not been around in quite sometime, an actual car selection that you are proud to own and drive and say " Yes that's my camaro over there beside that harley and twin blonde's in my driveway of my mansion on a hill , while i'm sippin some white lightning and listening to some HELL YEAH music!!!"
(sorry got away from myself to my younger days.)

Just being real

What's next , the police actually smiling and saying to you as they pull up beside you " You want to run that thing , lets go down to and old back road and see what that thang can do .. while he burns out to let you know its ok !!!

Depending on where ur from, racing (exhibition of acceleration) ranges in a minimal class c (traffic ticket) to a class b (jail time). It's a class b here in Texas. Spin ur tires and risk going to jail. This is why I only goof off at the track, period. That would be funny to see a patrol officer taking a run down the back road. However, I doubt he would ever risk his job in doing so.

Man that sucks for you. Here in MI it’s not that bad. I live in a small town, we have 4 stop lights and lots of country roads. If we mess around it usually on the back roads where the only person that going to get hurt is the moron driving. As for running um, I only do that at the track. When I lived in Detroit it was insane. Everyone wants to run you on the busiest streets, man it was friggen crazy…

Ehhh...not bad at all. But when you look at the pix, it's still a Camaro w/ Pontiac badges. I wonder what they'll do with it or even make the Trans Am. They have to do something with the body to at least give it it's own style. The 4th Gen Camaro and Trans Am body styles were very different, giving each it's own character. They better give the TA something of it's own. You do those pix urself? Nice job.

Yeah, it's tough...even more so when ur plate says TG UR IT. Not too difficult for a caller to forget when they're calling to report ur racing or driving "reckless". But, i know what ur talking about w/ the county roads. My brother lives out in the county and it's a perfect "track"..hehehehe.. Straight aways and nice smooth curves. Bad part.....hardly anyone drives it. If ur in a wreck, no one will know for a lonnnnnng time. We came across a rollover that had been in the ditch for a least a day (no, no one was in it). But it was way off the road in a ditch and through a land owners fence. We only noticed it due to the fresh black tire marks going off the roadway.

But as for a possible Pontiac Firebird sibling, Wagoner told IL, "Everybody is just going to have to drive Chevys this time."

I Have info that might concurr with this option, in 04 gm said in code language about a possible camaro rebuild in 2009 and follow up if successful the next production line yr would include the trans am model as in the 60's .

this was in either motor trend or car and track magazine back in 04 or 05..

I had subscriptions to both at the time.

Before GM killed both cars in 2002, the Firebird was a sibling vehicle of the old Camaro. But giving Pontiac a new Firebird appears to be a subject of debate within GM.

John Larson, GM's general manager of Pontiac-Buick-GMC, says he intends to push for a Chevrolet Camaro-type product for Pontiac, possibly to replace the GTO. Pontiac will kill the GTO at the end of this model year. But company insiders have said Pontiac will not get a Firebird.

From what I heard and read, Pontiac is stopping production of the GTO for the year and will resume in 08 with a redesigned body. Whether this is true or not, Pontiac only knows. But, I do believe I read it somewhere in a couple magazines (not like the mags are always right).

Yeah, I read the same thing. It's all over the net and in most car Mags. No GTO for 07. To bad. I never liked the car that much. The Holden version was much better looking. All Pontiac did is graph in a Pontiac front fascia on it and called it good. I read some where, can't remember, that the new GTO might be based off the Zeta platform.

2009 Firebird a Possibility?
Author: Michael Lawlor @ 1:02 am

Automotive News recently published an article about Pontiac’s plans to start phasing out all it’s front wheel drive cars in favor of an entire rear wheel drive model lineup. Why rear wheel drive? Word is that due to a decline in sales Pontiac is looking toward RWS as a way to differentiate it from the competition and to “revive the brand’s heritage of performance” Although it’s said that Pontiac is planning to unveil a RWD sedan concept at next years Detroit Auto Show there is no official word as to whether…

…one of the RWD vehicles in its future lineup will be a Firebird or not. With General Motors still on the fence we aren’t even sure if the Camaro will be built. If it does make it into production though one would think a Firebird sibling makes perfect sense. There is one hitch though. Pontiac is reportedly looking into building another GTO, possibly one that is based off the Camaro. If that’s the case then chances of seeing a new Firebird are diminishing. That’s not the only problem, it seems as though Pontiac may not even want a Camaro based car. Pontiac spokesman Jim Hopson spoke on this saying, “We want a truly differentiated product. We don’t want a rebadged vehicle.”

So the question is, will there be a new Firebird anytime soon? Unfortunately it seems unlikely. One can only hope. Let the ponycar wars begin!

Below is a rendering (by yours truely) of the 2009 Firebird based off a General Motors photograph of the Camaro Concept. If you’ve got a Firebird rendering you’d like to share send it along and i’ll post it up.

Could this be the 2009 Firebird? Only time will tell.

I'm not sure which of these I like best as they are both awesome. I think I prefer the bottom silver one, although it's very close the the original Camaro, probably too close.

What about the GTO? Anyone fancy doing some photoshops of that?

The white Trans Am is outstanding. The stripes on the roof are a little over the top thought.

the blue looked kinda ugly butthe black one looks ok. i would get rid of all the decals and trans am badge on the front and the side and not make it look like the badge from the mid 70-80's if your triing to make it from a totally different generation of the car. and lose the bird too.

its not a concept, its a drawing based on the camaro. I don't think it will happen. The latest news is that in 09, the GTO will be back and since the new camaro will be on the same chassis, there's no way they would make a firebird also.

Chevy Camaro will be built in Canada

Jamie LaReau | | Automotive News / August 21, 2006 - 11:36 am / UPDATED: 8/21/06 3:35 P.M.

Wagoner declined to say if Pontiac might receive a similar product or perhaps revive the Firebird, but hinted that John Larson, GM's general manager of Buick, Pontiac and GMC, is pushing for it.

"John Larson and I talked about it the other day," Wagoner said, stopping short of committing to any other details of the conversation.
