Here's a close-up showing the piping and my two-card technique. The small one opens the gap and the bigger one is easier to hold and push.

I found that heating with a lighter and pinching it closed kind of works to seal the ends so that the central, cotton cord does not stick out on the ends.

I got the piping. So I need to chop a credit card in half to get sharp enough edges to stick this in? I tried using my visa but it can't get the piping to go in.

If I do this I will probably dye the material to a charcoal gray or silver with some RIT dye or something.

You should not need need to dye it as they have many colors.

Joann Fabrics was my source.

Go to Joanns. I went to Michaels and they did not have it. Joanns has all kinds of colors too. I got red. I'll post pictures once I put it in

They have a "carrot Orange" but it looks more like a dull rusty orange color and doesn't match. What I had to do was buy regular edging and cord and make my own piping.

LOL Yup, major, big-time, royal PITA. Worst for me was the doors. All else was not bad.

Here is what i have done so far. Tomorrow I will finish her up. Pretty happy with the out come so far. For the smaller harder to reach areas like the curves in the door I opted to use a small flathead (eyeglass repair kit size) to navigate around those curves. Worked out quite well. But be VERY cautious and careful...the flathead can scratch the plastic if you aren't slow and gentle.

Since Wrights didn't make the right shade of Orange in the Max Piping, I had to purchase 3 packs of 4yd Orange Fabric Edging..roughly about $9.00, however, to get the "piping effect", I had to buy about 12 yards of small cording (about $10) to wrap into the Edging, in short, fabricating my OWN piping. But since I have some background in sewing, it wasn't that difficult for me to do, just more time consuming. And yes, I did get it all at Jo-Anns...much better selection there. I always buy MORE than I need, cause you never know if you might have an "uh-oh" or "re-do". Better safe than sorry. I'll put up better pictures tomorrow.

And HOW AWESOME were those colors?! The Yellow, lime green and Medd Blue were DEAD ON for the Camaro colors!

Looks great pumpkin!

Let's get some shots of the ends and come up with a good way to handle them.

FYI, if you do the ABL-style (top of dash only), then you only need two packs.

The only issue you are going to encounter with the hot glue is that it will leave somewhat of a large beading where you apply, and if youapply too much it may interfere with the placement of the panels after your done.. They may not fit. Instead of hot glue, I would suggest a good no sew/fabric glue (don't go cheap on it cause it will not hold. After you apply the fabric let it dry over night .

I am thinking that I may put a line of thin cording in the seam behind the piping to hold it in place. As like with any "concept" idea, trial and error until you find what works.
