i figure because I made my own piping, it was easier to manipulate the inner cording..so when it came to getting a clean flat edge, i simply used hot glue to pinch the edge together, then folded it over, hot glued and pinched it again to make it nice and flat. It created a nice clean edge for my starting point.

They didn't have any silver/grey so I tried to dye some. Currently they look like a blackish-blue. So unless I can get them to a more grey color I'm probably going to trash mine.

I might be able to help there. You looking more for a Silver to match SIM or the CGM?

Those edges were indeed a challenge! The panels were much tighter in those spots and trying to "tuck" the piping into the seam only pulled it out so that the panel wouldn't lie flush. Ill take a pic of what I did.

It was VERY difficult trying to figure out a way to clean this up... I couldn't get the piping to go into the door panel (too tight and it lifted the panel and left a gap). If you were to simply glue a strip of piping on top of that seam (without wedging it into the seam crack) you could run the risk of the door not closing properly because of the "bulge" the piping would leave..although I am pretty sure the piping is pliable enough that it would flatten out over time. This seems like the best option if you want to carry the piping all the way around the panel. Carefully cut off the fabric overhang (but not to much as to open the seam where the cording is) and very carefully glue the piping into that crease. I may try this today.
I simply stopped the piping and didn't bother trying to bring it all the way around. It isn't the cleanest, but the best that I could do. Again, folding the ends over and glueing them flat. Short of taking the entire panel off, I don't think there is a way to get the fabric under that panel in that specific area.

Well, my interior is black, but my car has metallic silver stripes. I was willing to go with a silver or a grey.

You can get metallic cording.. I saw it online somewhere, but I guarantee you aren't going to like it... Looks too hoaky and "blingy". Your best bet is to go with a storm gray.. a color you most likely will only get by finding a dye and dying afew packages of the white piping. But be sure that when you dye, do them each individually as to avoid light and dark spots. The only other option is to do what I did, buy edging and cording and make it yourself.. To bad you don't live close to me, I could have done it for you.

There you go! Didn't see any gray at Jo-Anns.. Let me know of you like the orange piping. It looked too much like that rusty orange to me and wasn't "vibrant" enough. And post some pics when you get it in.. I'd like to see it.

I didn't do the bottom of the dash piece cause i was going for that "ABL" look. But if I decide to put some on the bottom, it'll be a quick and easy install. The dash piece is by far the easiest.

not sure of the thickness of the 'tail' but there is such a thing as vinyl piping - http://veada.com/product/11-Marine-V...pholstery.html

though that EL wire in the piping is quite interesting...

I ordered som EL wire in Orange. Gonna try it out when it gets here. Should be easy enough to tap right into my rocker panel.

My thought was, "blue by day, blue by night". I was going to grab some of that tail wire, but I think it would be grey/white during the day. The fabric cuts a lot of the light, as you can see, but, it does light up. The trick here will be managing the ends with the power connection.
