I have chips on both sides of my spoiler, is this something dealerships are fixing for free?

Sorry I'm sure the answer is in this thread, but I don't want to read 11 pages looking for it lol.

Anyone know the turn around time?

Just had mine fixed by my dealer.... Less then 400 miles on the car. It was probably there when I picked it up but I did not know to look for it. I caught it when it was very small thanks to others on here. Thanks to everyone that came before me. I have learned so much from this site so far and hope to continue to learn and pass on my own wisdom as time goes by.

I have the same spoiler chips. I have found some nylon washer to raise the spoiler but where did you find the rubber strips?

I've been following this thread since I picked my car up a couple of weeks ago. At about 250 miles, I noticed these chips starting to form and took the car in. The dealer says they've never seen them before and don't want to fix it without a TSB from GM. Needless to say, I'm less than thrilled. Has anyone been able to track down a GM recommended fix or do I just have a particularly non-responsive dealer?

... SideshowJoe... GM has been sending kits with new washers and foam tape spacers to the dealers as part of the fix for this issue... see post #178 of this thread. I would show this thread to your dealer and maybe even call Chevrolet Customer Assistance directly.

Mine is in the shop as we speak for 2 new areas of concern, right on the edge of the front fascia where the hood meets the fascia very close to the pointy part of the middle of the hood. it appears as if the paint flexed and cracked. only on the very edge did the paint come off. also the exact same thing on the rear bumper where the trunk meets the bumper. both spots were on the hard edge and about 3 to 4" long. they are repainting my rear bumper and touching up the front one as well as installing a free invisishield for future chipping issues. hopefully it will get fixed correctly as i raised alot of hell for the shoddy fix up the first time. sorry i didnt get pics of the damages

Just saw the same thing on mine as i was prepping it for storage...blows....guess i'll get it taken care of in the spring. I am guessing i am going to lose my heritage SS that I have in place of the rear bowtie?

I was hoping to purchase a 2011 2SS (w/RS Package) either now or in the Spring. Any advice on how I should go about addressing this potential issue? I mean, it seems like more than a potential issue, almost a certainty that the car I'd be buying is going to have this problem, but I was hoping a TSB would come out soon. Should I mention this issue during the purchasing process....thoughts? Obviously I have to go take a closer look at the particular Camaro I was going to buy now and see if it already exhibits this paint chipping....just don't want to buy it and have to go back right away.

Same issue here on my 2010 SGM...

Going to have it in the shop in the next 2 weeks...

The left one is about a 3/4 inch line and the right side is just the beginning of a chip.

Gotta love it...

just discovered the same thing on my black 1ss last sunday. took it to my dealership yesterday and he told me to bring it in next monday to get it painted, they are going to put some clear 3m tape underneath the spoiler to prevent it from happening again.

I was at the dealer and looked at 6 2011 RS and SS Camaros to check the gap under the spoiler. 2 looked to be gapped right and the other 4 were nearly touching the lid. I spoke with the service manager and told him of all the future problems he will have. I'm waiting to get mine painted and I should get a loaner from my dealer Sand's Chevrolet in Surprise, Az.

Well, add me to the list.

I just purchased my 2011 RY 1SS a couple a weeks ago here in the San Francisco area. After washing it for the very first time, I noticed the 'paint chip' on the passanger side of the trunk, where the spoiler meets the trunk.

I will be taking it to the dealer tomorrow, Saturday, and hope that they take care of it.

Just when I was starting to feel very happy with my car....

As long as the dealer is helpful and fixes this issue, I will still be very happy with my car (provided no other issues arise).

Wish me luck guys.

My son made a small dent in my camaro on the fender with the door of my truck, he made a barely noticeable scratch, I went to the dealer's bodyshop, I had only 3 months after buying my car, the bodyshop manager tried to fix it, but he didn't , after 3 attempts and 6 weeks with my car, started to be a problem for the whole fender, so this Tuesday I went to picked up my car, it was abandoned, was covered in dust, the paint was dripping, and the color was darker, so I decided to take my car, because I did not want to run more risks, and end with a car like a rainbow ,Well, I complained about what they did to my camaro and for my money

this was made for dealer's bodyshop: the fender does not match
my car is now in another body shop, they made TEST PRACTICE PANEL, to see how it turns out and keep your practice Comparing to the vehicle color work, Before they attempt spraying the vehicle!.

well here is finished

I'm glad my thread has helped out alot of people. Amazing to me that so many have experienced the same issue. Wonder if 2011 owners are having this problem.
