I dont know if I would call it getting worried. That would be like saying GM is getting worried because there offering a money back guarantee. I dont believe either to be true their just playing the same game everyone else does.

An interesting topic you could focus on in your paper is how (e.g. what motor developments) will "muscle cars" survive in the future with increasing emissions and fuel-efficiency requirements and how will that need impact pony wars?

So for an extra $16 above the cost of a nicely equipped SS you can get

.03 extra G's
Gain an extra 3mph in a lap
and make a lap in a whopping 1.5 seconds faster.

Yet you say theres nothing that competes with a gt500 stock?

Id say a 1SS would do a fine job on anything but a drag strip. It would be a drivers race, and for $16k less Id take the Camaro.

But you said money is no object, so why not just compare everything to the ZR1? Surely ford or BMW have something to run with that?

EDIT: It really was a joke. Ironpeddler seems like a really nice guy who is just irritated with all the "GT500 is a stupid waste of money" talk, which I think is really silly. GT500 is a great car for the money.

Depends on what you buy. You can get the same performance of the loaded out Camaro's by buying the base 1SS for $31,000. The lowest GT500 goes is around $47,000 so $16,000 is about right.

In case you missed it we were talking about the 03-04 Cobras, and how Chevy did not have an answer for it (barring a Vette). Not the 2010 GT500s or the Camaro 2010ss . You need to stop moving the goalposts and/or adding 'well if i add this to a Camaro...'. This is at least the second time you have done this.

So I guess you expect the Z/28 to be missing thing's such as leather seat's and an apperance package of some sort. I am sure there are several other thing's as well. And I am not saying if they make this car it wont be a little cheaper but as we all know that is not the way it has ever been.

No I don't expect the Z/28 to miss anything in interior options, and actually see it around a couple of more thousand than the GT500. I only stated what the SS has right now. I was comparing lowest price to the lowest price.

LOL. Chevys answer for the cobra for 03-04 was the vette because there was no fbody. But even then its not like the cobras walked all over fbodies. Stock for stock was again close and they didnt even have any same year competition. Kind of like today...stock for stock is still close...yet the GM product is NA.

I didnt move any goal posts. Your saying they had no cobra competition in 03-04 but we cant count the vette. Why because its not fair?..even though the 98-02 fbodies still gave cobras a run for the money.

So back to my goal post moving point of a cobra MSRPing for the cheapest one at 45k and not really performing that much better stock for stock to a 2010 Camaro. Nobody told me what else you really get besides a drivers race from the 2 cars. Just like 03-04 Cobras competing against discontinued cars...theres an impressive stat.
