Cowl Induction hood and reverse lights on 5th gen

This is something I wonder about. Is this going to be standard on all the models, both V6 and V8? It looks great, but it would make sense to delete it from the V6 model. I wonder what the car would look like with just a plain, flat hood. Plus, how will they place the reverse lights in the back? I've seen the concept in person and it doesn't have reverse lights on it. Are they going to integrate the reverse lights into the rear bumper?

Actually, I made a point out of looking for the backup lights on the vert last weekend here in Huntington Beach. And they DO exist; at 5am (I even took a pic that didn't come out very well) I saw it backing out of the transporter and sure enough, there they were; in the black mesh area just above each of the exhaust tips. Hardly noticable AT ALL unless thery're lit. Pretty cool though

Regarding backup lamps, good question. I don't recall anything off hand.

Here is a shot of the silver car. Are they part of the LED tail lamps?

As I said, it didn't come out very well, at 5:00am I'm barely awake but, the shiny things above the exhaust tips ARE the backup lights lit.

btw, it reminds me...You know how everyone is having trouble picking a color...well a saw a black C6 Vette the other day with it's lights on, I've gotta say, black makes those rear lights look sooooooo good!

I like the backup lamps on the concept for sure. I agree, they will not end up there in showrooms.

I really wouldn't put it past them, I mean why would they even put backup lamps on that thing if not to see how it would look? And where else could they put them, inside the taillamps? That didn't go over too well on the Implala..... I really, wouldn't put it past them....

The production model better keep the afterburner style taillights or it'll lose a lot of it's fierceness.

The hidden reverse lights are fine if they could make it to production, but unless they can REALLY make them bright, I don't see it happening. They're too low to be seen easily by others imo.

Next to the license plate (where I indicated in my pic above) would be an ideal spot for them to put the reverse lights and not ruin any of the look of the rear.

The reverse lights should NOT end up in the taillights no matter what. That will just ruin the afterburner look.

I have no idea what the laws are on those lamps regarding size, location etc.
If they had them along side the license plate, they would have to be far apart for the export plates as well.

Take a look at the new Corvette below, those seem pretty small and out of the way, maybe something like that...

I never realized the Corvette had it's lights that low. I guess they can make it work just as well on the Camaro then.

Just seems too low/hidden to be legal to me. (Obviously it's not, it just looks that way to me.)

I don't understand your concern with too low/legal for backup lights. They are a convenience feature for backing up, not a marker light for other vehicles/drivers to see. As long as they adequately light the area you are backing up on, I don't see any issues or concerns.

The C5 had the lamps hear the license plate. This resulted in additional costs for having two configurations for domestic and export versions I would imagine

I can't find a shot of a C5 Export rear fascia anyplace... I believe they had the backup lamps in the tails and the longer license plate fit in the pocket the domestic cars had the plate and backup lamps in, but I'm not 100%

They need to keep that afterburner/solar eclipse look for the taillights for ceratin. It's beautiful...Just like watching a solar eclipse................

Yup..it's possible that they keep them in the same place they are now, but with a little work, have them more visable. Maybe they keep them there?

Well the inside 2, what if the reverse lights shared that space, you know, those two lamps lit up different colors, white or red...both afterburner style depending whether reverse is engaged?

It could easily work, but I'd rather have the 4 red lights all the same. It just looks too cool w/ the 4 glowing at the same time.

I prefer the all red tails of the 67-68 RS cars with the backup lamp under the bumpers as well. Carry over that look to the new Camaro please

That's exactly what it would do, though! The two inside would light up red, like normal when your driving, parked, or stopping...and when you go to reverse those inside after burners light up white...like a super - ... - Afterburner!!(white fire)
