JRE V6 COLD AIR INTAKE INDEPENDENT TEST RESULTS
A couple things to note here before I post the results.
Thanks to all the Vendors that Supplied kits for testing Cold Air Inductions K&N Airaid Injen Thanks Nick P. and Nick D. for helping me make this happen. The V6 Has a totally different computer system than the V8 so I spent a full day Data logging and Dynoing around 25 dyno pulls with the car stock to get familiar with how the car responds to different test procedures and temps and so forth, this way I would know what to expect when doing the actual testing. This car V6 AUTOMATIC CAR is Very consistent at 250 RWHP and 226 RWTQ, It repeats time and time again, I was happy to see this in the prelims. All Testing was done on 1 tank of 87 Octane fuel. Clearing of the fuel trims was performed before every Air Intake testing, this included the Stock Air Box. A long Drive Cycle was done with varying loads and speeds until fuel trims settled in. 5-6 Runs were made with each system, In the Sheet you will see AVG HP and AVG TQ, this is a measurement of each from 2500 RPM to 7000 in 50 RPM increments added together and divided by 90 test points, giving you AVG HP and AVG TQ over the whole dyno pull In the sheet you will see Peak HP and Peak TQ, this is a measurement of the highest HP and highest TQ measured during the dyno pull. In keeping with ACCURACY, I took the Highest and the Lowest Peak numbers (for example runs 1 & 4) added the Peak numbers together and divided by 2 for the Peak Number Gains. CAI had the highest peak hp but lowest avg 2.5-7k gain? |

And awesome job Cold Air Inductions. You took the highest hp gain. All from a top mounted CAI. Now THAT'S IMPRESSIVE! ![]() I now have no reason to consider buying a low hanging filter unit, especially seeing how CAI has:

If I was buying going by these results only this is the order I would rank them:
1. Injen 2. AiRaid 3. K&N 4. CAI If i was going by looks: 1. CAI 2. Injen 3. Tie between K&N and AiRaid

Great job guys. Great for comparisons and making an informed purchase. The gains were way higher than owner dynos Ive seen but hey at least ya know the best way to go now.

My choice is between CAI and Injen. I really want the Injen, but my car will be a daily driver and i'll be lowering it an inch or so. I just don't know if the rain would hurt it even with the hydro shield..

Is there any chance you can post a dyno graph of them? probably not easily since you did so many pulls, but it would be nice to see where in the power band the units have their best gains, lower or higher in your test range.
The Injen does indeed look best based on raw numbers, but if the video was any indication, the Injen was quite loud in comparisson to the Airaid |

I am looking for something that I can easily swap out and put back when I need an inspection. Airaid might be the way to go for me. Not the best performing or the fastest install but a good mix of both.
