Who's Up for Winter Mod's

It's been a while since I've posted so I thought I'd catch up. After about a year of adding "small" mods (trunk floor with Chevy Bowtie, leather boot for the E brake) I decided to make some changes/additions:

First off, I replaced the brakes with a set of Wilwood AERO6 (6 piston front) and AERO4 (4 piston rear) with matching drilled/slotted rotors and they look great!

Next Billet Specialties makes chromed valve covers for the LS3, so off come the Roto Fab covers and on go the valve covers. Still working on organizing the hoses, but now it looks like an "Old School" engine!

Seen a few C5's with these rear quarter vents and really like the look, so decided to get a set. Word for the wise, these needed quite a bit of prep, more than I thought but they came our great!

Last mod for the winter will be a thin stripe along the bottom of the ground effects, no pics yet as the Wild SS is still at the shop but I'll post pics once it's done.

Oh and the last one is really a leftover from the summer, but I added a new toy to the family. It's a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500, loaded up with all the goodies. And if that wasn't enough I had some suspension work done to the tune of a 6" Fabtech Dirtlogic Coilover lift, 35x11.5x20 Nitto's on 20x9 Fuel Offroad Hostage wheels, a Superchip tunner, K&N CAI, custom SS exhaust with Flowmaster super 40, AMI fender flares and AMI Black GMC emblems. Real cool truck. Best part, it's registered in RI so no sticker for 2 years!

Oh, forgot to throw a thanks to the folks at Driver's Edge in Plymouth for the work on the Wild SS and the truck. They are real pro's and love what they do! After I saw the attention to detail on the work done to the truck (which was brand new with about 800 miles on it when they took it!), decided to let them tackle the mod's the Wild SS!

I finished my header install beginning of the month. Wife gave me the ok to order a cam kit, just have to decide if Iím going to tackle the install or pay someone to do it. I just canít make up my mind between the BTR stage 4 or the TSP 235/239 or TSP stage 4 ďF-35Ē.

Massachusetts folks, has anyone who is modified had a state inspection since october 2017? I have been hearing it is near impossible to pass with as little as an intake or exhaust. The inspectors are on closed circuit t.v. so they have to inspect the under carridge for cat converters etc.

Last I heard the physical inspection itself hasnít changed at all. Youíre still allowed one not ready code. I guess the state is breaking balls on license plates, tint, and vehicle height. As far as the cameras go, yes there are closed circuit cameras but they are not always being watched. Most of the time the state inspectors only interrupt the inspection if there is something not right when the vehicle is plugged in. Granted this may make more shops follow the book to the letter, if you know of a shop that didnít care before, they probably wonít care now.

Iíd also like to know if anyone has firsthand had their car pass with the cats removed.

You'll be fine...everyone is blowing these inspections out of what they are. The inspection cameras are not specifically for the cars. they are to keep the Inspectors under wraps. Many shops have a scan card for one operator but are allowing other employers to use the scan cards and they are not training inspectors from the DOT. The new camera system implemented takes a picture of the operator and the scan card and watches to make sure the inspector that signed on is in fact inspecting the car and doing it properly.

My Car passed with zero issues 2 months ago and if anyone knows my car well you would of thought it would be a paper weight after these inspections.

So..you will be fine

I had a very hard time getting mine to pass in NH. 3 readiness monitors wouldn’t complete. Had to drive 140 miles to get a special tune from Don. Still had 2 of them not complete but it finally passed anyway. Sucked bad. Hopefully won’t have this problem anymore...

Sounds like a shitty tuning situation brian I've had zero issues and though i haven't went as extensive as you in mods I'm far from stock anymore.

New exhaust tips completed . Love how the shape follows the ground effects frame rather than a circle in a rectangle!

Headers are installed. working on 3" exhaust - with Quad tipped ARH mufflers.

Upgraded brakes to ZL1 calipers and front rotors.

Next in line is a cam/lifter/rocker/fuel pump/injector upgrade (all at once).

ZL-1 diff upgrade to handle the supercharger power. Carrier, driveshaft, axles. Should have it on Friday. Have to pull transmission also to find oil leak at the back of the motor. Hopefully just a bad seal.
