Anyone experience this in their L99?

4 (Fourth) Gear Hold (V6 Engine)
If, during highway driving, you wish to pass another vehicle, but then change your mind (quickly pushing the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor and then immediately releasing the pedal), the transmission will shift to a lower gear and then upshift to 4 (Fourth).
This leaves the transmission prepared with increased responsiveness for additional driver input. The passing maneuver can then be resumed from 4 (Fourth) gear, or 4 (Fourth) gear hold can be canceled by lightly pressing on the accelerator pedal.

Happens to me now and then during semi- spirited driving.

My Buick does this sort of... I just release the gas pedal and re-apply it and the transmission selects the next lower gear.

Yeah but I have the V8 (L99). When I let off the gas so as not to drive over another car, the revs stay up and the trans doesn't upshift to drop the revs. I'll try tapping the gas like the V6 info suggests.

Well that's the point of Sport Mode. My L99 if in sport and senses aggressive driving will keep the RPMs around 4k regardless.

I'ts gotta be sport mode then. I'll have to mess around a bit in D, see what happens. Computers, what'll they come up with next?

I've had multiple occasions recently where my L99 doesn't upshift properly at highways speeds. In D entering the highway it shifts normally until I hit about 70. I'm guessing that it's in 4th gear maybe 5th but the RPMs are at 3K. It will hold this for a LONG time. Usually, I have to nail it to force a downshift and then it will then upshift properly and drop the RPMs to 2K.
