2012 Camaro Z/28 rendered! Close to production!?

Featured on CAMARO5 HOMEPAGE.

Per Autoguide.com: Chevy’s upcoming Camaro Z28 is popping up all over the place, from spy photos to our imaginations. While no official pics have yet to be released, it won’t be long before we’re sure to see a fully uncovered version of the supercharged 6.2-liter Shelby GT500 rival. But why wait for official news from General Motors, when we can employ the talents of skilled artist Jon Sibal.

Designed with Sibal’s talents and a collection of facts and rumors, the Z28 is shaping up to be a tremendous competitor, taking the Camaro to new heights thanks to a supercharged 6.2-liter LSA V8 engine. While it’s sill possible that the Z28 could get the Corvette ZR1’s 620-hp LS9, the LSA is a more likely option, considering recent spy photos showed a 6-speed automatic (currently offered on the LSA-equipped CTS-V). Plus, Chevy isn’t likely to share the iconic Corvette’s powerplant with any other model – Z28 badge or not.

Possibly more exciting is news that the Z28 could boast even more than the 556-hp found in the CTS-V. This is a near-certainty as Chevy is eager to top Ford in the horsepower wars and upping the 2011 GT500’s 550-hp rating by just six ponies isn’t likely to cut it. And if Chevy can be trusted to toss around some impressive numbers, look for a 3.9 second 0-60 mph time.

Design wise, the Z28 will get a more aggressive front end and a larger bulge in the hood to make room for the massive engine.

Recent spy photos have also revealed that the Z28 is likely to get 20-inch wheels and a brake setup similar to that found on the CTS-V, which boasts 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers.

Chevy continues to be silent on Camaro Z28 news, but we’d expect such an iconic American car to debut at (where else?) the Detroit Auto Show in January.

If they debut it at the Detroit Auto Show, when would that happen during the 2 weeks. I want to go up to Detroit for this but I don't know when to go

So IF it is revealed at the Auto show - when might we be able to order? And are we all still thinking a $50k price tag?

If they say they will reveal it at the auto show in Detroit I'll fly from CA to check it out...no joke...nice rendering (minus the non-HID's as stated) but my guess ladies and gentlemen is that we're looking at the new Z28 right here...

Im guessing the production will be close to this, I wonder what the rear will look like probably a different spoiler and rear-diffuser.

I still have a feeling they are going to change the grille more and put in more aggressive head lights like the gt500 compared to a GT

I don't think it will be revealed at the Detroit show. More than likely if it is revealed it will be at the LA Auto Show.

The general public is only allowed during the week of Jan 15-23. The first week of the show is for the press and media and that is when most of the debuts actually take place. Anytime during the second week you should be fine.

I think the Z28 needs to look a little more unique than that in the front. The GT500 looks a lot different than the base 5.0.. The Z28 should be no different..

I think the front end looks great! Also in production there should also be a front splitter on it like the GT500.

I think that front end looks pretty cool, but we already know what the front of the Z/28 is going to look like. Go take a look at the spy photos and the new Bumblebee photos side-by-side

Close, but here's my take:

1: I think the top grille is gonna be different, not an 'egg crate' style, more like one horizontal bar running through the bowtiw if you know what I mean

2: Bottom brake duct lights are gonna be fog lights or those sweet LED lights a la the Leno concept. You already have signal lights on the front by the headlights, why would you have more at the bottom?

3: Headlights are not RS package ones. Call me crazy, and this is only my gut feeling, but those headlights are not gonna be optional. HIDs are gonna be standard.

4: Looks like the mailslot is upside down?

5: I think if it DOES have a mailslot, it will be on the hood. And functional.

6: The brake duct areas on the front bumper look like they have a bit to much upward angle on the bottom side. I think they will more follow the line directly beneath it on the chin lip.

That's about all I can nit pick from this picture, but I think the spirit is there
