Knock in the rear when I come to a stop..

Knock in the rear when I come to a stop. Is that normal ?

Every time I come to a stop I hear a click noise or knock. It sounds like it's coming from the rear brakes not sure. Today it sounded loud I had the windows open. I thought it was coming from another car until I let the brake go and pressed it again and it made the same noise.

I actually have the same issue. And it does sound like a watermelon or basaketball in the trunk. I double-checked though. That's a negative. So what else could it be?

In all seriousness... it's happening in my car too. I have a feeling it's the inflation kit. It sounds like it's somewhere to the rear but on the low side. This has come up before, and I tested the theory out.

I would race to a stop sign hit the brakes hard and hear the knock. I would pull away slowly then build up speed and hit the brakes hard again. I wouldn't heard the sound. I think that's because the inflator is to the front now and not moving around.

I guess I can yank everything out and see if it happens again.

What's a inflator and what does it do?

Inflation kit is for when you get a flat. Most cars come with it as opposed to the extra tire. Saves on cost that way. But I have a feeling it's shifting or sliding and causing that noise. I need to go in and remove it, and see if that's the case.

I had the same issue after I took delivery. I had a clunk in the rear when I accelerated from a stop, and a clunk when I would come to a stop. The back seat was not fully secured. I pushed the back seat in until it locked, and no more clunking sounds.

Hey all. Anyone have update on this? Mine does this and started 4 days ago. When i stop, it sounded like someone was tapping on the back part of the car or back window, sometimes it does it once, sometimes it does it multiple times when stopped. If at a light, it will do it and then about 10 seconds later it will again.

If it's doing it after a cold start, you could be hearing the evap solenoids doing the evap system test.

After about a minute or so of run time, my car will make several taps in the rear, a few seconds later another tap. If you happen to be stopped at a light when this happens the taps are noticeable.

There really isnt a certain time it does it. Its done it the other morning when it was 50 outside but I had already been driving for about 30 min. The other day, it did it in traffic on the way home from work with it being 80 outside and already been driving for an hour.

I had a similar noise in the rear end.
Took it to the dealership and they replaced 2 bolts and washers on the half shafts.
Noise gone!!
GM knows of the issue, and has a fix for it.
Have your service manager look up clunking noise in rear end to find the fix.
Good Luck.
