Next Thurs July 29, a tv show called "Battle of the Supercars" on SPEED CHANNEL is having a Camaro vs Mustang GT-500 shootout! It comes on at 10pm. I couldnt tell much about the camaro from the commercial except it had a "FASTLANE" windshield sticker. This is a cool show, so I cant wait.

If it was the one they filmed out at the Texas Mile a couple months back... well...don't pass up any hot date's- you can DVR it.

I watched them film that one.

seems like a really unfair comparison, the gt500 has forced induction and a price tag 18k higher than the camaro. If the camaro can even put up a fight to that type of competition its a victory in my book.

Wonder why they wouldn't have the SS take on the GT instead .The GT 500 is a bit out of the Camaros range and not really it's direct competition.

Oh well we will see how the Camaro does..

It is a 1000 hp turbocharged camaro they are running according to the episode info

I was out there for the Texas Mile that weekend and Fastlane had just installed the forged parts and turbo in this car. Can't remember the username here on C5 but the owner is from Louisiana. Edit: username Jude

Speed Channel put a super rush on the car to be ready for this filming... The Camaro had exactly zero runs on it prior to prepare. Fastlane's Turbo setup is Sic, but there just wasn't enough time to dial it in.

+1, not worth it IMO. The GT500 had 2-300 HP on the Camaro, according to the Speed guys. It blows my mind how little car show producers think about the shows they make. And I don't know where they got the 1000 hp claim, unless they refilmed it, because we talked to the Speed guys who were out there and the numbers I heard were something like 600 (Camaro) vs 900 (GT500) Also, I know they got some fancy pants IRL pro driver to drive the Mustang, but that dude shifts slower than my gramma

The Camaro always got the jump out of the hole because the driver was a better drag racer. Some pics:

Spoiler alert: The GT500 won, in the drag race part anyways. They did some sweet drifting at the end of the day, I'm still kicking myself for not going down to shoot it.

That show has Paul Tracy (IRL driver) and Tanner Faust (drifter) driving the cars. Haven't seen any shows yet, but I'm sure it will have the typical drama and explanations-for-non-car-people type of dialogue.

just last night i saw Battle of the Supercars. They tested the GT-R vs. Porsche, and then another episode with Ferrari 430 vs. Porsche GT3. Both of those were tuners though. I was thinking it would be cool if they did a Camaro one, and now i know they have!

No, I didn't see the wife. To be honest, I'm surprised they let me hang around to take the pictures I got, but I do the event photography for Texas Mile so I guess that held some weight with them. I'm sure there's more to the show than the 3 or so mile passes they filmed, so it's not too much of a spoil

They did the engine swap the week before filming. Jude had already planned on the swap, it just happened a little sooner when the oppurtunity persented itself for the show.

Thanks Casper. Just wanted something different so I went with the 02 SS theme and changed it up some and ghosted LS3 inbetween them.
