31K too much for a used 2SS base with auto tranny?

Guys, I'm a nooB in this forum and wanted to take the opinion of the gurus out here on whether 31.5K is a good price for a used 2010 2SS with no options other than auto tranny and 5K miles on it. The asking price is 34K and I'm in the middle of the haggling process. Thanks folks .. let me know Oh and by the way it has a september 2009 manufacture date.

That's an ok price depending on how the paint job is. You could probably go down further to about $30,000 which is the trade in value of the 2SS now since they sell at auctions for around $31,500..

Thanks folks. I don't think the dealer's biting anyway cos he thinks he can get 33+ in auctions. Car looks mint except for the black vinyl stripes on it which look kind of faded and also chipped in spots at the back. I showed him the pricing schedule of the 2010 with the invoice price and all to which his reply was that he would get the price he is asking in auctions so no point showing him that. Oh well.. was trying to save some bucks but I guess I'll have to wait some more and get a new one.

Yeah you could definitely get a brand new one for a few thousand more. So, I'd go with a new one. Go with a used one if you can save a bunch, but saving just a few thousand, in my opinion, isn't worth getting a car that already has a history. Granted only 5K miles isn't much history, but still.

I bet though if you wait till November, the Camaro won't be selling that high at the auctions and there may still be some new 2010's on the lots sitting there with some discounts on them at that time as well. The depreciation value of a sub 6,000 mile 2010 SS is low but as time passes by,those low miles won't keep the price high for long. Especially with 2011's hitting the dealers lots...Sit tight, you will find a good deal on a used one that would be $5,000- $8000 less than a new one and maybe that would be worthwhile to you.

Thanks for the tip Superman. After I test drove the used 2010 2SS I've been sucked in... Just sent a note to 12 dealers in my area to see what's the best price I can get on a 2011 2ss. Let's see how that goes. Will update if I lock in something
