Camaro launch control mode explained

HERE is a video of an informative info session explaining GM’s launch control feature, now equipped on manual transmission Camaros. Although the info session explains the launch control feature on a Corvette Z06, the 2010 Camaro’s launch control system operates in the same manner.

In short, the launch control system is a computer aided mode which assists the driver achieve the quickest launch possible. The system prevents bogging or overspinning the tires, both which slow launch times. Approximately 100 times per second the launch control system will determine the slip of the wheels and make constant adjustments of engine torque to optimize the launch. The information session features comparison videos of launches with and without the launch control engaged are shown, as well informative graphs demonstrating the benefits of launch control.
