Everyone from the GM Authority on down talks about it being something associated with our V8's. My car certainly seems to have all the classic symptoms.* But is it something that was made up to mask something more nefarious going on like, mis-machined crankshafts, slowly taking out rod bearings? Posters on other forums talk about having vehicles that did it from day one to 200,000 miles.:noidea:

*lower end and lower frequency knock than that of the clicking of a lifter at startup. But...not a loud knock like a rod bearing. And goes away when up to temp

I would love to get a hold of the author Mike/Michael Antonick to find out where he sourced some facts for the book because I'd like to build on them if possible for the Aqua Blue Owners group, helping complete the list of ABM Camaros made and hopefully make it easier to recompile a "spasticsquirrel" database for ABM owners. (IYKYK about spastic squirrel.)

Would anybody have any leads, know how to get ahold of Mike or have any ideas where to start?

Hi! I recently installed some new hardware on my Gen 5 Camaro and I am working on the calibration myself to learn the process with hp tuner so I am quite new to tuning.
So I added a BTR trinity intake manifold, 103 mm throttle body and a cold air inductions intake, I already made a drivable tune with a (good) Fuel ratio and Already did some full WOT pulls but I am struggling with two specific idle/airflow issues that I can't seem to flatten out.

Before new upgrades Vehicle Specs:

L99 To LS3 conversion kit GPI
GPI SS2 camshaft
BTR Platinum valve springs, Titanium retainers
GPI Hardened Pushrods 5/16"
Trunion Rockers kit
LS7 Performance lifters
American racing Longtube headers
American racing X-pipe
Oil catch can

(The car was already tuned for these previous upgrades)

New upgrades

BTR Trinity TRA-3-BLK-P105-V2

Thermo spacer 10mm

Granatelli Motor Sports 103mm throttle body GMTBLS3M

Cold Air Inductions Intake System

The current tuning Issues:

Idle Stability/Surge: Especially after startup or after putting it from drive back to neutral when stopped, the idle is very unstable. It dips as low as 500-600 RPM and often surges between 800-1000 RPM. When shifting from Drive to Neutral/Park, the RPM dips significantly and the car almost stalls.

Issue 2
Hanging RPM: When revving the engine or letting off the throttle while driving, the RPM hangs and returns to the idle target extremely slowly.

I have a lot of logs and files also with fuel ratio wideband full send WOT put the log here atached was not working somethimes the wideband works and other times not.

Below here is the VCM editor file and a log from google drive.

https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...emFPiX4wHuNK6X

Please let met know how to fix this and if you see any weird stuff or have tips also let me know!!!

Question for the folks of the forum,

For those monitoring fuel rail pressure, what are you using to monitor the PID for boosted setups? I was looking at getting either a Banks gauge or an Aeroforce Interceptor gauge to monitor Fuel rail pressure as well as boost and IATs but seems maybe its not possible with monitoring fuel rail pressure without add ons?

Could someone with either gauge, or who is currently monitoring those PIDs verify or provide what the best way is to monitor each of those?

AFR I already have a dedicated gauge but wanted an all in one for the others if possible.

Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Ring gear teeth missing
Not sure if i should even try to reuse this case / center section

Was trying tu find a junkyard rear differential and just bolt it in. But it looks like everyone buys these for their auto trans for an upgrade.

Opinions on reusing my differential with new gears? Maybe 3.91. Or should I just buy the junkyard AT 3.27 complete unit. Just looking to get back functional, don't plan on going back to the track at all.

Hey, I was getting the camaro ready for the upcoming summer and noticed a broken exhaust bolt. Was able to extract broken bolt. Replaced both exhaust manifold gaskets. Endoscoped inside exhaust ports and spark plugs ports. All the valves on the passenger side seemed fine but noticed some black soot(?) in the head around cylinder 7 valve. Cylinder 7 piston kinda looks oily to me with a ridge ring maybe.
I'm not a mechanic but my thoughts were..
- exhaust valve not sealing
- piston oil ring not sealing
- injectors clogged causing bad combustion
I've already planned to pull fuel injectors and clean with pulsing cleaner. I was gonna do a compression test and leak down test. If I have to pull the heads to lap the valves, I might just get the ported. I don't have the resources to work on the bottom end.
2010 camaro SS 6 speed manual 52000 miles
Thank for any incite.
