so the second day i had my 45th vert, when i washed it, i noticed on the drivers side quarter panel a thin spot in the paint about 6-8 inches long. the dealer had forgot to install the pins for securing the tonneau cover, so when i brought it back to schedule an appt i had them take pictures and document the paint issue.
when i brought it in for the pins, and to have a recall on the top completed, they also brought it to their body shop to have them look at the paint problem. they actually noticed several other spots on the left door, fender, and both quarter panels where the paint is thin. the passenger side is minimal, and i could live with that, but they said to make it right they would have to paint the entire left side of my car
i know ive read of another 45th owner that has a similar problem with his door, that he decided to "live with" instead of having his new car painted, and no guarantee they could match up this paint color perfectly. i have spoken with him already.
these spots are mostly noticeable in direct sunlight, except for the worst spot that i had noticed on the quarter panel. heres some pics, so you can see what i mean. i am currently attempting to get a new replacement car because of this problem, because i dont think i should have to settle for a car with an entire side that has defective paint, and to have it re-painted will devalue it substantially.
