This brat's story Starts in the spring of 1968. I was playing outside on my grandmother front steps. I was playing inside a large card board box and just having fun when I was stopped by this, This...sound. I looked out and saw nothing but, What ever it was, was coming down the street and it was down shifting. What rolled into view and turned the corner was a brite Red Camaro with a Black bumble bee stripe. As soon as it made the corner BAM! A whine just came out of it as it was punched to the floor and banged through the gears. That was it for me. I said to myself "Some day Im going to get one of thouse Cars" ( I had no Idea of what it was called) Just a moment after I said that, I remember the radio that was set outside for me to listen to, Came across saying.." Our next number is comming back into our top 100. The Door's Light my Fire!"
Well, I knew my fire had been lit.
That summer, my Mom statred Dating a guy named John Hashmen. I found out what that car was called and not only did I find out I got to ride in his "Camaro" He had only owned the car for 2 months or so and had bought it brand new. It was a 1967 White coupe and a V8 (I came to understand later.) With a stick. (I remember him having to do something with the stick to make the car go faster) What Did I know, I was a little kid, But learning fast. I got about 8 or 9 chances to ride in the Camaro. Mom and him broke up. so that go's
Enter 1979. Me and the girl friend (Now wife) went to look at a 1968 Sport Coupe with a 327 automatic. So blue was the car color we fell in love with it. So I paid him 3600.00 and it was all mine! I had my Camaro!
. I can't tell you all the fun and memories and good times in that car. I Did ask that same girlfriend that went with me to get it, If she would marry me in it and she said YES
. I sold the car to a friend of mine for 4200.00. in 1986 I alway's regreted that.
Enter 2000 I did it again, I bought a 1967 RS 396 Punched out to a 401 with an automatic. Drove that around awhile and sold it in 2002. Money and other things where going on at the time. The wife was not crazy about that car, so there it went.
Enter Oct 2012 WE both fell in love while out looking for another old camaro me and the wife. The old 68 I was looking at was not in real good shape and neather was this other one. Ratty and looking like everybody had did something to these cars over the years. But, while on the way back.........I said Look at that new Camaro in that dealer ship. Lets stop. She said "No lets go home" Just a "quick look" I said we pulled up next to her. The wife got out and said "this is a real nice looking car" I said to her did you ever sit in one? I have at the mall. I got a sales men she sat in it while I looked it over. This was not an everyday Camaro SS this was a 2012 Camaro SS 45th aniversary edition with a 6.2 V8, Manual 6 speed Hurst, 426 HP. I was wow'd. I went to the window where the wife was sitting in the car still and I said what do you think? She said, can we mortgage the house?
I laughed and said hold on!. Something here was right with all this. 2012 is our 25th wedding anniversary, the Camaro's 45th, and Chevy's 100th. So what happend? We bought the Car and picked it up on Oct 25 2011 with 6 miles on it. Its in storage now. I put it away with 429 miles on it. When the weather clears up it will come out again. Its a special Car to us. Weekend driver only. It will have a pampard life. We love it because Camaro has alway's been in our lives, in our blood. YES WE ARE CAMARO BRATS
