A bubbly tour of the Cider Route in Montérégie (Rougemont)
Rougemont is the “Apple Capital”. The Quebec climate yields fruitier, juicier, fragrant apples. Masters of the art of transforming the humble apple into delicious nectar, the Montérégie’s cider producers offer you the opportunity to sample the region’s different varieties, including the fairly mild hard cider, ice ciders and sparkling ciders. They’ll also be happy to explain to you the basics of how cider is made. Whether conjuring sparkling or still, alcoholic or non, even an “ice-cider” offshoot harvested after the first frost, this new generation is honing the craft into an art form. All this means, a bubbly tour on the Cider Route is a must for the bubbly amateur that I am and let Montérégie be the apple of my eye!
