The dipstick looks great! Is that a shelf item for them or did you have it special made? Can't wait to see this project up and running!

Nathan, Call Robert @ ADE: 503-705-7907. and order a LS3 coil pack relocation bracket kit. This is the tightest mounting bracket that I have seen. They are under a c-note with shipping. I still don't think they will work on a stock vehicle without rubbing, but they should work on your car if you don't have the brake lines running from the M.C. right behind the heads. I haven't forgot about the pics, but it is difficult to take pics of the car when it isn't at the shop .

Below are some of the pictures I took while touring the facility of CP-Carillo.
First off, I'd like to extend my gratitude to the whole team at CP-Carillo for their hospitality. I was treated to a personal tour of their facility by one of the co-founders AKA, "Snake". To say "this was a first-class operation all the way around" would be an understatement. I was literally overwhelmed by the amount of quality control, R&D research and capital investment on technology that was demonstrated to bring us great products! Attachment 416938 Attachment 416939 Keep in mind, these are just a small portion on the number of CNC machines. Attachment 416941 Attachment 416942 Attachment 416943 Attachment 416944 This was the most expensive machine in the facility, LOL. Now it can't be all work and no play! Attachment 416945 This machine would laser each piston with a private label. Attachment 416946 Attachment 416947 Attachment 416948 I though it was kinda neat how they went about design the graphics for their funny car. They held a contest where people were able to submit their own proposed rendering, then picked the winner out of the top five. Attachment 416949 Attachment 416955 ************************************************ I've been getting a lot of request to post vids of stuff being polished. This is a short one. The only two bolts I couldn't replace with ARP were the 140MM for the alternator. So I did the next best thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cStRf1l1y8 I will post more as time allows. ************************************************ Quote:

??? That picture isn't of the brackets I'm talking about, or was that just to show the depth of the coil? And BTW those are some pretty pistons. |

I haven't posted on the one I got but I'm not feeling it. She e-mail me on Monday to see I was going to be attending SEMA so we could meet. I will keep you in the loop. |

You know i keep watching this thread with envy that you guys have the time and the patience to do this... and i was thinking shouldn't the tittle of the thread be changed from "project cleaning out the..." to "Obsession cleaning out the..."
cant wait to see all you your guys' projects finished up. |
Lookin real good Nathan! I passed on your comment that ABS should be my winter project. :D I'm still trying to get the nightowlleds.com controllers done and ready to sell. People are knocking on my door. I doubt I'll have time this winter. It would be a good next mod. I may have to do the dipstick thing though.
Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see it. |

I spent my day at the machine shop today doing engine work. Here are a few pics........ I numbered with and engrave the rods and caps before taking them apart. Attachment 418045 Here we are measuring the pins to make sure we have the right tolerance in relation to the rods. Attachment 418046 Next came measuring the bore of the rods. Attachment 418047 Next is measuring the bore of the pistons. Attachment 418048 Next cam the piston skirts. Attachment 418049 In order to balance the crank, you need to know the weight of the pistons, rings, pins, clips, rods and bearing... Even though I gave Lunati all the weight measurements so that they could balance the crank in-house (Lunati balances 50 cranks per week for NASCAR and are within two grams of tolerance), I'm just going to pay to get it rebalanced just to make sure. I just don't want to cut any corners on the eleventh hour. So we weighed everything again. I have got to say CP does a really nice job! All the piston weighed exactly 421gm. Attachment 418050 The weight of each end of the rods comes into play when your balancing the crank. Attachment 418051 Attachment 418052 Attachment 418053 Attachment 418054 Attachment 418055 Attachment 418056 Here are all the measurements we took needed to balance the crank. Attachment 418058 Next came installing the ARP stubs to prep for align honing. Attachment 418059 Attachment 418060 Attachment 418061 I figure you guys would find this interesting. Billet heads a block. Attachment 418062 Attachment 418063 Stay tune for more. Hope you guy are getting something out of all my posting. :iono: |
