Maybe someone else will come in and give advice. Either the FOB has and issue going into program mode, something is locked on your car preventing it from going into program mode or something in the steps is not being done correctly. The steps are pretty straightforward, so I thinking its something outside of the steps.

I'm sure someone else will come in an advise you. You might be better off starting a new thread in the main thread area and pointing back to this one. Something like NEED HELP and pointing to this thread could probably get the traffic you need to the thread for the right person to eventually come in and tell you what you need to do.

Key Fob Fix
Misplaced one of my keys and never found it. Ordered a new one ($50). Dealer wanted 1 hour labor ($50) to reprogram or sync the buttons to my car. Found the below fix online and 2 minutes time I was done!

April 15th, 2010 at 4:33 pm, Andrew Hughes Says:
1. Close all vehicle doors.
2. Insert the key into the ignition.
3. Hold down the power UNLOCK button on the driver’s door panel(CENTER FOR US CAMARO OWNERS)-continue to hold
down until instructed to release in step 9.
4. Perform steps 5 through 8 in fairly rapid succession.
5. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (as far as you can go without starting the
engine).
6. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
7. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
8. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
9. Release the power unlock button on the door panel. The vehicle will lock and unlock
the doors automatically.
10. Hold down the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter simultaneously until
the door locks and unlocks.
This step may take up to 30 seconds.
11. Repeat step 10 NOW for each additional transmitter (including any existing
transmitters).
12. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position in order to exit the transmitter programming
mode.

Sounds like a button punch code for the Sega Genesis. Once you finish this your car should transform into Bumble Bee.

Very cool thread though seriously.

key fob problem

I bought a key fob from Ebay and had it cut by a local locksmith. So far so good. Then I did the program steps from this thread, old key on & off, new key on & off. now the key fob will unlock and lock doors but will not open trunk or start car. Anyone else run into this? Is this a faulty fob or something I am doing wrong?

or you can put one of your origional keys in the ignition and turn to the on position, then remove it, put your new unprogrammed key in the same ignition and turn it to the on position and wait to hear it beep and display "third key remembered" or some thing like that on the center display. that is how I programmed my ordered key. works just like the one that came with my car.

IT WORKED FOR ME ! IT TOOK 10 SECONDS TO PROGRAM THE KEY ! :happyanim::happyanim: THE LOCK AND UNLOCK BOTTONS WORK ON THE REMOTE, AND THE CAR STARS. PERFECT ALSO!:thumbup:

I bought the key online with out giving them the VIN number. I had it cut at a locksmith and programed it my self this way

THIS IS THE WAY TO DO IT.:chevy:

I have to punch this thread to the top. I continue to be amazed at how fantastic this little Camaro community is.

My key fob, well one of the buttons fell out / broke out. I ordered a blank using the links on here (to ebay) for $27. I received the blank in the mail yesterday. I started trying to take it apart and that was a bit of a nightmare as I think they are glued.

So I found this thread. I used the information to punch the pin out and swap the key for the key in the blank and then used the second key to my car to program the blank using the instructions on this thread.

For a whopping $27 I have a brand new Key fob and I didn't need to waste a half day at the dealer or pay absurd prices to do in about 10 seconds what I did moments ago.

Thank you guys!!!!!!

same way you would if you got a new key. the key gets programmed to the car. follow the instructions and you should see it working.

I lost my spare key fob to my 2010 Chevrolet Camaro LT RS and called my dealer for a quote. He said it would have to be ordered from the parts warehouse pre-cut and would cost me $140. That is ridiculous. Can I order a new key fob from GM Parts Warehouse and have a locksmith laser cut it???

I havent been on in awhile, but when i did have my 2010 S.S., I needed a new fob and key and I found locally a shop that stocked the fob and key and he cut it and programed it all for 60.00 plus tax.
What dealer gets is a rip off, and there is no laser cutting on the key..
Any key/lock place thats has the machine , will tell you that is what gm calls it laser cut, but shops have cutters to do it..
If ya find a local place that sells key and fob's [ yes you can get them seperate ]
I would be more than happy to sell my fob;s as i have no use for them..
The place that does them here is called , Glad security.. and im near syracuse N.Y.

here is link.
