Day 2 of the instal and getting closer but not done. The time is adding up and at $90.00/hr, I'm stressed.

They are currently working on the fitting in the air ducting. Everything is tight and in a couple of points parts are touching that shouldn't.

The duct between the belt tensioner and the fan are touching, and it still needs the coupler:

The lower side of this duct passes a narrow space between the frame and radiator, requiring a bend of the power steering hose. This is going to be a rattle point:

Looking down the back side of the radiator you'll see the coupler that will go to the air cleaner.
The installer has decided to add a longer duct to the coupler so the air cleaner is more accessible from the top.

Unfortunately all this is "normal" for the kit. I had all of the same issues. I addressed them recently with Jamie (the guy V6owner used). Definitely not the cleanest kit.

I will get it taken care for you Erick. No stressing!

What shop is doing the install?

efpardo 06-18-2013 10:51 PM

Vision Tire and Auto Lansing Michigan. They have a great team of highly trained techs, but they don't do this kind of thing every day. They do a lot of fleet work. I've used them for the last four years. They charge a little more but they worth it.

So now after you've had it a while, have you had any issues?

They should end up looking similar to this:

Alex's kit only came with the small L brackets that didn't reach the bumper support so we did what we could;)
it was the first kit installed outside of RX so we had little to work with.

Then when I installed the kit on Andrew's (white camaro) it came with longer brackets that reached the bumper support but it was the first LFX install so we had to tweak a few other spots. I even added some brackets here and there to help support everything.

All this stuff is normal pretty much. You also have to trim the right side fan so the tube can fit. But all the touching of parts is pretty normal lol and will work fine.

If you or Darren have any other questions feel free to call me again. I don't mind helping out since I've done a few of these.

My car is a daily driver. I just don't want any trouble down the road.

I've just rolled over a year since I first supercharged my car. I've had various issues, most were attributed to going with the super chiller, so I switched it out with a custom air-to-air intercooler. You won't have any of those issues since you are using an air-to-air intercooler. The other issues I've had were belt misalignment (similar to you) and the tensioner bracket that connects the tensioner to the supercharger broke due to poor construction, so I redesigned it, had it water jet cut and then polished to eliminate any possible defects/stress risers.

Go to my build thread here and go mid way down page 3 to read information on that. Based on what I've seen of Alex's tensioner bracket, you should be fine.

The other thing is getting the tune perfect, since we cannot have a custom tune and have to use mail order tunes it is kind of hard to do..

Believe me I understand. But looks like everything is gonna go together nicely. And you don't have the super chiller or the od pulley and those are the 2 areas I've seen trouble with. The only issue Alex had at one time was the tensioner but its been revised and the brackets and pulley is beefier so you should be good to go! And keep the stock spark plugs also. Don't get colder ones. That can give you issues also.

And again if you need any help I'm here ;)

Thanks for all the comments and support guys.
I'm off to a business trip so won't be able to post anything new untill next Monday.
The car is in capable hands though. Can't say enough great things about Vision. They are doing a great job and I think they have overcome some issues that will hopefully help everyone. Issues aside, the system is solid, and should prove to be a great experience. Can't wait to share that with you all.

BaylorCamaro 06-20-2013 08:43 AM

Yup it will be nice once you get it up and running, tune might be the tricky part..

V6owner 06-20-2013 09:19 AM

I got ahold of Luke at Vision and the car is up and running. They are putting back on the bumper and working on the gauges now. Still needs to be tuned. Erick is still waiting on Tracy to give him his tune, unless it was sent recently.
