13lade: Do you mean the dome light wire at the BCM that is mentioned and pictured in the first post? ;)

PostaL: Just the smallest fuse that I could find locally. Mine was 2A. These LED's only draw milliamps.

PostaL 06-11-2010 04:39 PM

Just finished, worked like a charm!

You rock Tony, next beer is on me :drinking:

Sorry... i should have been more specific... I meant a 12v switched that is not switching off with the domelight switch. :)

I just knocked this mod out in maybe 30 minutes. It is so simple. Great instructions and pics.

Dyk-NO 07-06-2010 12:54 PM

Can you turn this off and on?

Kreature 07-07-2010 07:54 PM

so attempted the install today and i failed miserably lol. i had the CCFL tubes from AAC and for some reason it didnt turn on. i pretty sure i did everything right from the grey wire(from the grey connector) to the two black wires for the ground. im suppose to connect the two red wires from the (2) inverters to the grey wire on the grey connector right? i did that and i really have no clue why its NOT WORKING!! sigh........

TonyNo 07-07-2010 09:34 PM

I never saw the AAC stuff, so I can't comment on that.

Dyk-NO: I did post a diagram earlier that showed how to connect a switch to get that functionality.

13lade: Maybe you can find the radio power wire in the diagrams and tap into that?

The 2010 Sin 07-15-2010 12:01 AM

That was an easy 10 min install! :-) Hooray DIY people! PS. I went blue.. Blue on black is my new theme.. I want IBM stripes instead of my silver! :-O

Thanks for the DIY, i want to make some LEDs come on when I engage the E-brake, is it possible?

That might be possible. Just need to find the parking brake signal wire. Usually cars have them so you can hook up a navigation system.

rdblan2 07-23-2010 02:22 PM

Just did this today w/ the AAC CCFLs.

Super easy. The only recommendation I can make is don't choose a 98 degree day to do it.

LosXC451 08-04-2010 10:36 PM

If I want my footwell lighting to only come on at night and dim with the lights what would I have to do?

To do both may be difficult. To come on at night you would need a daylight sensor. To dim with the dome light you would need to tap it into the dome light power.

TonyNo 08-05-2010 06:38 AM

Hmm. I wonder if that light sensor on the dash has a usable signal?

Rob191288 08-05-2010 10:46 AM

Thanks for the write up, Once I found the wire to tap into it was easy to get it in. :)

Ah I bet you could. or at least to the relay that turns the headlights on at night. Something to that effect.

Ok well how about hooking up to ABL or the auxillary power?

Michael_Js 08-05-2010 03:02 PM

That connector in the picture above (Post #175) IS the ABL connector! It's for the dash ABL GM never put in. It's what I have my driver's side ABL connected to. That will only go on when the lights are on and will dim with the interior lights. There's another ABL connector behind the speedo - at least in the 2SS...

Ok I have a 2SS but do I have to take off the dash panels to get to the connector?

SummoneR 08-05-2010 06:24 PM

Ah Michael J beat me to it.

But depending on when your Camaro was built that connector may not be there. It was removed after the first several thousand rolled off the line since they decided not to go with the ABL in the dash.

But I believe the purple wire on the BCM is the wire that feeds the ABL in the doors.

If you have that connector as pictured, you only have to remove the driver's side fuse panel - just pops off. If you don't have that connector in there - look around a bit, then as described above, just find the purple wire by the steering wheel column and T-Tap into that and you're good to go! ;)

wow thats easy, thanks :D look forward to doing it once i order my footwell ABL lighting from aac style

CamaroVision 08-08-2010 10:54 AM

my dark gray wire coming from the gray plastic part(next to pink, i see there's another gray plastic section on the opposite end) doesn't work and has no power.

the lighter gray(and thicker, only thick gray wire i can see) comes from the pink section, it looks like you tapped into the thicker gray wire, but it comes from your gray section and its in my pink section.

im confused, guess ill try tapping into the thick gray in the pink section and see if it does anything.

ever figure out your problem? i think mine is the same.

CamaroNewb 08-08-2010 11:08 AM

Just want to thank TonyNO for the write up. Did this without a hitch and only took about an hour from start to finish. Picked up the quick disconnect t-tap, inline fuse holder and 3A fuse from Radio shack for like $6. Bought the lights from Oznium. Complete project was less than $40. That is outstanding!!!!!

Thanks again!!

For non-RS, it looks like X4, position 1 and 2 (dark and light blue wires), but it looks like that is a PWM signal. For RS, it's X5. Low beam is 13 and hi is 18.

So I guess I would use the low beam one? Which color is that? sorry for asking so many questions btw

TonyNo 08-13-2010 10:13 AM

It says the pink/white wire.
