Brembo brakes installed on my 2LT/RS >>>>

10 Attachment(s)
Today was a good work day we installed a complete Brembo Brake kit from a
2SS/RS and put them on my 2LT/RS.

First off special thanks to Fesler Built (www.feslerbuilt.com) for the OEM Brembo brakes off a 2010 Camaro SS I was able to pick up a complete kit from them (take off) rotors, pads, calipers, and brake lines).

We started this morning around 9:30-10am and we finished just after 12 noon. The front SS rotors and calipers bolt right up no modifications needed.

The rear SS rotors are a good 1-2" larger than the V6 rotors so you have two options replace the rear brake rotor shield with one from the SS cars or trim the existing one by 5/8" and the rotors will clear with no issues. The Brembo calipers mount up to all of the existing holes and the V8 brake lines or aftermarket ones are a must to reach.

I can tell what a difference in stopping power well worth the time in upgrading.

V6 owners with the RS package will have no issues with installing these.
Here you go lots of photos of the install.

I have been debating about doing this for a while now. Relieved to hear it's pretty much a bolt on job! Great pics. Now I just need RS wheels

racer50200 01-23-2010 06:49 PM

What a relief to know it is a bolt on deal. We just received a set of SS brakes from Hennessey for my son's 2LT/RS so we are right behind you. I assume you bled the brakes. Is it OK to reuse the original mounting bolts? Overall not too much hassle? Thanks!

Yep fronts will be no problem you will just need to trim the rear rotor plate
5/8" so the rotor will fit with no issues. Other than that a piece of cake we took our time as we wanted to make sure everything fit.

Yep we bled the brakes and you can reuse the stock mounting bolts. We ended up using less than 1pt of ne brake fluid.

Yep the stock V6 ones are too short.

Glad I could help it's a great mod and you will enjoy the better stopping power :)

The Brembo brake package I got from Fesler Built (www.feslerbuilt.com) as for the price someone posted they are selling them for $500 for a complete set.

CarNutzCustomz 01-23-2010 11:47 PM

Great info. Thanks for posting. Will reference this when I sell my SS stock brakes to upgrade to either Brembo GT or CTS-V spec.

We are working on a used forsale parts page now and should have it up soon but yes we have a few sets in stock.

Blade 01-24-2010 10:56 AM

I would definitely put these once the stock brakes wear out or I have some funds to spare. But I would be too scared to put these on myself :)

Messing around with brakes scares me LOL.

Looks great, love the rally flags

PQ 01-24-2010 02:06 PM

Hey!!!! Those look just like mine. :sm0:

You said it was worth the time. But is the stopping difference woth the money? Basically is the difference a super duper difference? I wondered about this.

IMHO yes a big difference with a slight touch of the pedal she wants to stop not like the factory V6 brakes.

Yep drop Chris a line at Fesler great bunch to work with.

Looks GREAT. I am happy to hear that it is an easy install, however I am also not wanting to play around with my brakes.:w00t:

Trust me I understand I would have had a shop install them but my father is a retired ASE Cert GM mechanic he used to work on the Corvettes so I felt I was in good hands.

How bad is the Brake Dust buildup on the wheels? Is is better or worse than the stock V-6 Brakes.:iono:

Great Job on the install.

How about the spongy feeling the V6 brakes had? It is gone now right?

ckaram 01-24-2010 06:38 PM

I think I read the V6 stopping power matched the V8's with factory brakes to begin with. Looks cool though.

camarowa 01-25-2010 10:31 AM

this is great, thanks sean for the first one. I am just waiting for the stainless lines from goodridge and will be doing the same upgrade. Already have all the parts.

BMR guy 01-25-2010 12:05 PM

Thanks for the detailed install description. It's nice to know that the swap is that simple. I knew the drag racing guys were swapping out rear V6 brakes on their SS's to fit 16" drag tires but wondered how the swap would go in reverse!

tjd24 01-28-2010 09:29 AM

A little help - I am about to order the SS Brembo Calipers from Chris, the Stillen Slotted & Drilled rotors, Hawk Cermaic pads and Goodridge Stainless Steel brake lines from Charlie at Stillen - I know these will fit the 20" RS rims but what to be sure my winter rims - Sport Edition ST4s will work OK with the SS Brembos - they're 20"x8.5", 34mm off-set, and 6.18" back-spacing. You guys see any issue with the winter rims? Thanks.

mikey8 01-28-2010 10:15 AM

Nice Job Sean!!!

BlackIce1066 01-28-2010 12:49 PM

Looks great. My brother is about to do this and I will be putting them on.

Is there anyone making stainless braided brake lines for these?

camarowa 01-28-2010 12:55 PM

goodridge makes the stainless lines, i ordered them from tirerack and have been waiting for about 3 weeks. Estimated shipping date now 2/2/10. Have all the other parts ready to go

Getting a hold of Chris at Fessler is like pulling teeth, been trying since you posted this reply. Can you tell me what comes with the set. Is it just the calipers, pads, rotars, and brake line??? Any info would be great, as I plan on upgrading the rotars, pads, and brake lines anyway, I was just wondering if it would be cheaper just to buy the items direct brand new as I can get all four calipers for $360 plus s/h

He may not have any left, my kit arrived yesterday. It comes with front and rear rotors, plus all four calipers with brake lines.
