"DETROIT – The Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl XLV between the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers on February 6 will receive a 2011 Camaro Convertible, Chevrolet announced today.

A media panel and fan vote on www.superbowl.com will determine the MVP Award winner, announced during the Super Bowl XLV Postgame Show on Fox, presented by Chevrolet.

“The new Camaro Convertible arrives in dealerships in February and will be a fitting reward for the MVP,” said Rick Scheidt, US vice president of Chevrolet marketing. “It’s a great opportunity for Chevy to have Camaro play a role on one of the world’s biggest stages, the Super Bowl.”

The Camaro Convertible will appear on the field during the postgame celebration in North Texas. The convertible continues the momentum of Camaro, which has taken the lead in its segment in the United States. Available with an efficient 3.6-liter Direct Injection V6 engine, or as the V8-powered, 426-hp SS model, Camaro now features a power convertible top for the unequalled fun of open-air driving.

The Super Bowl MVP receives the Pete Rozelle Trophy, a silver trophy made by Tiffany & Co., and the Camaro Convertible. The MVP will be available following the winning coach’s news conference on Monday, February 7 at 8:30 a.m. CST at the Super Bowl XLV Media Center, Houston B-C (3rd Floor)."

Nice publicity :D

xLoGiK1 01-25-2011 09:02 AM

Does the MVP get an SS or v6? Either way, that's awesome!

c_LoW29 01-25-2011 09:07 AM

True. Good exposure for Chevy though.

It makes me sick to think NFL players and owners can't come to a satisfactory CBA when they're getting free Camaros and making millions of dollars a year.

I read somewhere that if you just took into account the actual games that Brett Favre played in last year, at 16 million per year he made over $17,000 per minute.

midnighter 01-25-2011 10:24 AM

So GM is just giving these things away to the rich and famous. I just hope they never give one to L. Lohan or M. Gibson because they'd get plastered, drive it, and wreck it.

its a syn 01-25-2011 10:31 AM

:bs:it is sickening that you have to take out a small loan just to see a game in person!!! just the:popcorn: is $5, forget having more than a couple of these:drinking:. it makes me want to :barf: when these guys totally make idiots of them selves off the feild and want us to act like nothing happened !!

RAYSRT8 01-25-2011 10:33 AM

Wow GM I am impressed. NOT... Why not do something for people in need vs. giving things to folks that pretty much have all they need and then some?

GM is doing this because it's good publicity. ;)

That's the problem.. It's all staged vs. coming from the heart and helping people out in need.

HeatherR 01-25-2011 10:40 AM

This is nothing new. They used to give a Cadillac. GMC is a sponsor. They (GM) are auctioning off stuff (Super Bowl tickets, etc.) and donating the $ to the United Way.

GM does give to those in need too...They just don't get the same attention for it. I posted a link in the Kid Rock thread of one axample....Problem is NO ONE cares

They will present the car to the MVP at the game...you know how much a SB commercial costs, so think of it as a cheap Camaro commercial....

fastball 01-25-2011 10:57 AM

I remember Joe Montana winning a 1990 Buick Reatta for being the Super Bowl MVP.

My God am I getting old :(

cab2g 01-25-2011 10:58 AM

Nice publicity. But did you ever know that if you ever catch a celebrity using a cell phone in a paparazzi pic or at an event, they were paid to do so? This stuff happens all the time. Whatever increases sales! I'm sure GM will make their money back just on increased sales from Superbowl advertising. Companies wouldn't pay so much money for it if it didn't have a positive return on investment!

midnighter 01-25-2011 11:01 AM

I still feel that the best publicity came from featuring the C5 in Transformers.

Oh please, its called advertising your product, GM and many other car companies give plenty to charities. Didn't they auction off the first camaro and gave the $$ to charity?? (coupe and convertible)

Steve Dallas 01-25-2011 11:10 AM

Aaron Rogers doesn't need a new car, but I'm sure he'll like the Camaro!

FastInTheDesert 01-25-2011 11:12 AM

The Camaro winner will be from the Steelers

CamaroSkooter 01-25-2011 11:13 AM

Sheesh. So many Debbie Downers in this thread...

2010 SSRS 01-25-2011 11:13 AM

I think it is awesome, hopefully they show the mvp receiving it.

one thing not many people know is just to park to get into Jerry world you pay anywhere from $85 up to $150 where ever someone is allowing parking.

A drink is about $8 the same goes for a Hotdog.
Tickets in the nose bleed are about $95 to a regular game ( thats ok watch the giant Screen everyone else does lol )

For a family of 4 to go , park and Eat you are looking at about $500 maaybe a little more. Thats not to mention the souviners lol

I went to a a regular season game and couldnt beleive people did this week to week.
I love my team but I went out and brought a New LCD lol

Sad the superbowl wont be $85 for a ticket and im sure the people will go up for parking.

And whoever plays Football the best for the winning team ( basically deos there job right while getting paid for it ) gets a free car lol hopefully he will be a class act citizen and act like the winner he really is and be as thankful as we were when we got our cars.

Gm's way of a tax right off I bet another donation lol

lucky fool whoever it will be.

No, the first Camaro off the line went to Rick Hendrick (multi-millionaire NASCAR team owner).

EDIT: granted he bid $385,000 to charity for it ;)

rmpackers 01-25-2011 11:17 AM

Aaron Rodgers will look great in his new Camaro!

PS: The cheapest SB ticket I can find right now is $2,695.

stratman2SSRS 01-25-2011 11:17 AM

They should paint it black with yellow stripes!!

ZED SLED 01-25-2011 11:23 AM

Probably did it thinking 'Big Ben' would get it and needs all the 'head' room he can get for his teen-age groupies.:D

RAY-RAY 01-25-2011 11:54 AM

i wish GM would pay off my car for me.........just b/c i pretty much help keep this country free. but i suppose i should become a pro at a sport and then maybe someone like me could get some recognition. sorry, im not trying to sound like a dick.

Steve Dallas 01-25-2011 12:11 PM

It won't go to Ben R., because he'd just wreck it right away...

Buffnshine 01-25-2011 12:13 PM

I think they would get more publicity and good will if they gave one away at C5Fest II! Just saying

shawn18 01-25-2011 12:24 PM

Cool......I cant wait to pick it up.....I wonder if I will get to choose the color I want

Johnnyma45 01-25-2011 12:37 PM

The local news here did a SB story last night. Cheapest seats, upper deck are $2,625. Most expensive seats, ~$16,700 on the 50 yd line. Most expensive luxury box seat, $363,000. That's for ONE TICKET. :suicide:

*In completely unrelated news though, I switched channels over to Hawaii 5-0 just in time to see a silver Camaro chase a jet down the tarmac, spin a 180 and stop it before takeoff. :w00t:

Fogey 01-25-2011 12:55 PM

This thread got silly quick.

At least the Godwin Law hasn't occured yet. GM is doing it for publicity. Let's gave a new Camaro to a homeless guy in LA. That will sell a lot of cars.
Not

SS-Eric 01-25-2011 12:58 PM

Maybe they'll let me present it to the MVP....

Is Classic providing the vert? Or is it being shipped in?
