Super clean windows

Any suggestions for getting my windows super clean inside and out, other than windex and newspaper. Trying to avoid windex if I can. One of those window sprays for cars left squirt marks on my windshield which I can see when the window fogs. Tried several brands sold in auto parts stores, not satisfied with any of them.

Use isopropyl alcohol.

It with lift off the contaminates to the surface and allow you to wipe away.

Camarodriver2 12-13-2013 10:35 PM

I've heard straight white vinegar and newspaper.

I've used this with great results. Kinda cheap, but very tough (can't tear it), washable and only uses water! But it needs to be barely damp. No streaking if you do it right.

Be weary as to what you use on the inside of your windows if you have tinting.

I use Invisible Glass and micro fiber clothes.
I think a lot of it is technique. I spray the product on the cloth and go over the window twice. The first time going across and then up and down. This way I am sure I don't miss an area.
I do this on both the inside and outside.

Clay the outsides as well before cleaning. Glass needs claying quite frequently

Could you recommend a product for the inside of the windows, that will not harm the tint?

trashmanssd 12-15-2013 07:25 AM

you can also use (0000) steal wool with window cleaner on the outside especially the windshield takes all the contaminants off and smooths edges on any pitting on windshiled

04goatgirl 12-15-2013 08:47 AM

Invisible glass by Stoners You can buy at most auto parts store and walmart. Its safe for tint

jshaf 12-15-2013 09:50 AM

I agree with both alcohol on the outside and vineger on the inside, once clean I use stoners both inside and out. usually use a glass sealant in the spring for the summer driving season

Any automotive window cleaner. I use megs d120 because it's super cheap. Don't get fooled by the big bucks window cleaners.

Ammonia is what you want to avoid. Winded has ammonia which will harm tint. Just read the bottle. I use stoner invisible glass. Cheap and over-the-counter

wellworth plexall or spray way glass cleaner

the barber 12-15-2013 07:07 PM

The squirt marks u see when the window fogs is likely something u used on the dash such as a armorall and got onto the windshield which should b cleaned immediately, as far for exterior when seasons start changing I use plenty soap and water sprayed on the windshield then use several new razor blades to clean any thing off it such as tree sap

Never heard of claying, will have to look that up! Although my main concern is the inside. Thanks!

Will keep that in mind as my windshield ages, my problem is the inside. Thanks!

Second recommendation for Invisible Glass. That's what I am looking for, the most repeated recommendations. Thanks!

I have never sprayed anything on my dash. I know for a fact that the squirt marks are from a cheap glass cleaner, that may have been too old or expired, that I sprayed on the inside of the windshield. Need inside windshield help. Thanks!

I preferred to speak to directly and thank each person who took the time to reply on my thread, individually. I will summarize all of what I have gathered for other readers of my thread later. Thanks!

jshaf 12-18-2013 07:16 PM

wanted to clarify one thing, don't use vinagar on tint, or at least I wouldn't. Stoners or the like for tinted windows, the vinagar works well for windows with alot of smoke scum like inside the windsheild which in most states can't be tinted entirely sans the top few inches for a visor section. just thought I would throw that out there.

Try 800 grit sandpaper with sulfuric acid... if that don't get em clean nothing will!
