Thank God for Scott!

There's been so many concept drawings new and old circulating lately and a lot of them have 2nd gen Camaro themes (which in theory I don't mind) but dear Lord are some of them Fugly! Thankfully they are mostly exercises in design and not actual concepts. I know the future is safe with Scott and the rest of the Camaro Team and the 12 disciples looking out for us.

So far the only concept drawings I've seen as of late that made me get excited were these. Probably because I grew up with the 3rd gens. It's not perfect, but I like where it's heading.

Scott 78 01-07-2013 08:59 AM

I dig it. Not a big fan of the back end but the rest looks killer.

mattsfirstSS 01-07-2013 09:02 AM

Yeah I also have an odd love affair with the 3rd Gen. In honesty its not the best looking vehicle, sort of plain but I grew up with them, working on them riding in them, etc. heard Led Zeppelin for the first time in one, life changing experience that was.

If the 6th gen takes styling cues from the 3rd, count me in :)

Still my favorite concept drawing so far. To me it doesn't look like an overdramatic concept it looks like it could make production just the way it is.

v6sonoma 01-07-2013 09:08 AM

It has to be the hardest job in the world to come out in front of an audience and say "THIS (what ever it ends up as) is the new Camaro" So many passionate fans. Impossible to please everyone. As long as the make me happy. :) Ya hear that Scott!!! :paddle:

JK! :D

tramtwo 01-07-2013 09:08 AM

Imagine the pressure?! The 5th Gen was instantly iconic and is so recognizable now.

plus1zero 01-07-2013 09:11 AM

I wonder why they're getting ready to change the body style so quick? We're in what, the 4th year of the 5th gen now? Seems like they wouldn't unveil these until 2014-2015..

that's because none of these are Official GM drawings or designs..........

None of them have anything to do with a 6th gen.

And in another thread I requested that someone come up with a new smilie along the lines of:

:notheadlights:

...... 'member THAT one????

:sm0:

thanks for the kind words - but remember, I'm not a designer.

(:yikes:I can't even draw a stick figure!:yikes:)

We have many talented Designers and Tom Peters is overseeing future product plans......and that's a good thing!

Meanwhile: anything you see that's supposedly a 6th gen? It's not.

tramtwo 01-07-2013 09:18 AM

Oh I know none of this is official. I'm pretty sure that black suburbans would be wagon training if they were.
:suburban: :suburban: :suburban: :suburban:

It's just nice to know that there is a large group of passionate people (yourself included) that is helping to guide those that are designing the future of Camaro.

Like Allstate the Camaro's in good hands. :)

Wait...What? You mean that something said on the internet is NOT the absolute truth and gospel? :confused0068:

I'm sorry...I need a moment.....Everything I thought was true and good is now in question. My life will never be the same from this day forward........

That's why I like it. It's a mixture of the 2nd and fourth gen while still looking fresh.

family man 01-07-2013 11:17 AM

I heard they are going to cancel production of the Camaro after the 2014 model year.

Yes, that's true. They will stop building 5th gen Camaro's in Oshawa.

Then they will begin building 6th gen Camaro's in Detroit.

rickyrocket 01-07-2013 01:42 PM

I dont know why everybody stresses over this,I like the one I have,it would have to be one hell of a car for me to trade up!

No, the Camaro will be DEAD. Word is, GM is waiting to see what Ford does with the Mustang. Sound familiar? :sm0:

I'm with you on that 100%, the 5th Gens are the best looking Camaros ever made and I love all 5 gens of the Camaro, but the 5th Gen is definitely my favorite :chevy:

Don't make me get fbodfather involved again.

rickyrocket 01-07-2013 02:18 PM

My mother says my first word was "CAR",I was about 7 when the 69's were tearing up the streets,I owned 3 67-68's but they were pretty beat by then,It has been a dream come true to be able to buy a car similar to the 69!

Scott 78 01-07-2013 03:18 PM

I pray they don't model the 6th gen after the 4th. I respect the performance of the 4th Gen but they just look so bland and boring.

Respectfully disagree. Still one the most streamlined and aerodynamic looking designs on the road today. ;)

BaylorCamaro 01-07-2013 03:38 PM

Looks kinda like a 3rd gen. Which makes me want to barf.

Sent from my SAMSUNG Galaxy S III using telekinesis.

v6sonoma 01-07-2013 03:52 PM

I liked the 4th gen Camaro, but I LOVED the 4th gen Firebird. Never got the chance to own one.

Compared to the cars that the 4th Gen F-Bodies were competing against, they were absolutely killer, especially the 97 Super Sport and your pick of the year Firehawk.

toesuf94 01-07-2013 04:32 PM

Pretty imaginative designs...they show T-tops...love the silver one with the tails of the bottom drawing.

Now...I will await the OFFICIAL release of the GM designed car, as the drawings above, while cool to look at, have NOTHING to do with the 6th generation Camaro.

If any "future what if" in Camaro's coming, sometimes the concept cars at all the up coming 2013 MFG Auto Shows will be for all of us to get juiced up on. :chevy:

Can one imagine the threads going on for the new Vette. That must be huge in speculations. By hey.... we Camaro lovers getting the 427 in a year per annoucement

RSloth 01-08-2013 12:20 AM

That thing is nice! except the front, Get rid of the front... :barf:
But that bottom design from the side view... awesome.
