Best / Simple Gauge Options?
Any suggestions on gauge(s) for a mild FI setup? Would like to monitor boost, iats, oil pressure, etc. Id really like something that can just read it all from the OBDII port if possible. Just lookin for ideas. Thanks!

Aeroforce scan gauge. DynoSteve is running a special still on them. You can run the dual pod setup and see all that or you can use the scan feature. Plugs right into the OBDII port and also set the gauges up as shift lights or warning lights. To monitor boost you have to use a ZL1 or ZR1 MAP if I'm not mistaken.
I also hear good things about Dashlogic |
Ultra Gauge does it all and 0-60/1/4 performance, monitors everything the ecm sees, fuel pressure etc
|
Aeroforce Interceptor, you can also run their sensor kits to have a Wideband with 0-5V output for tuning. Running a innovate MTX-L and one of these is a good option when you want a dedicated Wideband AFR + something for oil press, boost, etc.

Awesome thanks for the options! Don what setup is that and what brand?

AeroForce interceptors with their dual gauge pod. Scan enabled so I can see 8 items on each gauge (2 per page, 4 pages per gauge). Works with the existing vent...
Got them from DynoSteve... http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...385577&page=20 -Don |

Anybody running A-pillar gauges?

Since you mention using the OBD, this would be another option...i am using Dash Command app and play it thru my radio..Torque could do the same...

Dash logic works great too.
Not a huge fan of the aeroforce gauges just because you can't see/read them with polarized sun glasses. There are better multigauges out there IMO. |
im going to give ultragauge a shot and see how it does... dash logic looks good too. The pricepoint was hard to pass up. Should give me oil press, oil temp, iat, and boost (im guessing from the ZL1 MAP sensor). So we'll see how it does.

The Aeroforce offers a lot more functionality and appearance options than the others. Performance timer, analog inputs for A/F ratio among other things, control over the radiator fans and I/C pump (ZL1). Countless hardware configurations - bezels, faces, decals. Peak recall, graphing modes, record function.

This is my setup.
The Gauge Pod is made by "Ortiz Custom Gauge pods" and i used Evo Sport Boost Gauge and Air/Fuel Gauge I really like how factory looking the Pods are and they are great line of view! http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...pseffwcjr3.jpg http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...psdtdqbs1i.jpg http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...ps1be3ky3f.jpg |

No one thinks these empty gauge pods are expensive as hell for small pieces of shaped/molded plastic? I'm in need of some gauges to monitor A/F and nitrous pressure and went searching expecting the gauge pods to be $40-50 bucks.... Maybe $60 at the most.... But $130 for a dual pod!? I was sure in for a surprise lol.

The autometer pillar pod is under $100

I use this single gauge to monitor my nos pressure, fuel pressure, and afr

Yep, the pods are a bit high for sure. Not too many options unless you want to make your own. I know the folks who sell them have to make molds etc so that does factor into the cost (how many they sell vs setup)...

Ultra gauge is pretty slick for 70 bucks. Very capable setup.

Those Ortiz ones are slick, but I think I'll end up putting two single pods on the center speaker grille, angled to I can read them easily. |
So do our cars have their own wideband sensor that a gauge such as the interceptor gauge can read from? Or do we need the whole wideband sensor kit? I know the primary O2s read air/fuel I don't see why it couldn't just get the air/fuel info from there.

While prototyping our design, we had a version with angled pods. Honestly, it looked terrible. It looked bad from inside the car, outside the car and even worse from passenger seat. As far as the price goes I can only speak for our own product. Our most expensive 2 gauge pod is currently on sale for $109 and 3 gauge pod is $129 with Free Shipping. You have to keep in mind that we pay credit card processing fees, actual shipping costs, warehousing, packaging etc. Our product is made out of high quality ABS molded plastic. Th entire piece is ultrasonically welded together. Bezel rings are machined aluminum. We use only the highest quality parts and pay premium for them. Believe me, our margins are pretty low on them and we are definitely not getting rich off them. |
