Autoblog: One Night Stand: Taking home the 2010 Chevy Camaro SS

Anyone seen this? I apologize if it's a repost. I did search for the title.

At the end of the night, I drove the Chevy home -- a nice, light-traffic drive on the Merritt Parkway. I made one last pit-stop at a gobsmacked buddy's house before easing the big red beast into my own empty garage bay, where it spent the rest of the night. Come the next morning, it was time to drive back into the city. The auto show was beginning, and I needed to return the Camaro on my way to Javits. It was snowing when I rolled back up to the parking garage. With regret, I handed the key fob to the parking attendant, flagged down a cab, and joined the rest of the gang for the show. I thought about the Camaro all day. I need another shot at it. Less than 24 hours with it was just a tease. This was a one-night stand that I could see turning into a full-blown affair.

full blown affair, good find

snizzle 04-09-2009 07:34 PM

If this one doesn't get you excited about the car, nothing will.

moto-camaro 04-09-2009 07:37 PM

first time i've seen it :w00t:

good find

Milk 1027 04-09-2009 07:41 PM

This part cracked me up

The Camaro SS is so testosterone-infused, the FDA ougut to regulate it as a male-enhancement product.

But fair is fair: GM nailed the important stuff with the Camaro. This is a car that grabs you on an emotional level. It is relentlessly, unapologetically, unequivocally badass.
Rock on! I want to go smash something, haha.

Mason44 04-09-2009 07:55 PM

Lol loved it. This has got to be one of the better reviews.

Sounds like autoblog has been stalking Blur: This is a car that grabs you on an emotional level. It is relentlessly, unapologetically, unequivocally badass.

Nice article, makes me all the more anxious.

DDustiNN 04-09-2009 08:49 PM

Nice read! I love this part:

Sure, you can find vehicles with a nicer interiors, sharper handling, and more power. And yes, the trunk opening is surprisingly tiny and the low roofline that makes the Camaro look wicked while standing still doesn't exactly help outward visibility. But fair is fair: GM nailed the important stuff with the Camaro. This is a car that grabs you on an emotional level. It is relentlessly, unapologetically, unequivocally badass.

Power is simply monstrous and on-demand. The Camaro SS is so testosterone-infused, the FDA ought to regulate it as a male-enhancement product. Shifts with the manual gearbox are reasonably short and crisp. The subdued, muscular burble at idle turns into a full-throated bellow when you mash the loud pedal. And mark my words: with an aftermarket exhaust, this thing's going to sound utterly malevolent. Children will cry
this paragraph just gives me chills....

and like with every review I read I get into the 2nd paragraph and shout "i want my car!!!"

Reading that article made something hit me.. I have been lurking on here for a long time and have occasionally chimed in. This article finally made me realize that I should look forward to the people's reactions when I take the car out. I hope that the people of the Louisville, KY area are as passionate and positive as the people that I am reading about when they are reacting to the car. I have always been thinking about how well I am going to enjoy this car. I hope that the people around me, my friends and strangers, also get enjoyment from seeing it and riding in it as well.

I love the exterior, particularly the front end, but that interior has yet to grow on me.

"Throughout all this, the happiest guy in the picture was me. Nevermind the attention it draws, the Camaro is just a ball to drive (Full Disclosure: This, coming from a Ford Mustang GT owner). "

Nice coming from a GT owner. Wonder how many of them will learn the word "convert".:clap::clap:

MontyCarlo 04-10-2009 09:16 AM

I love how many reviews make it sound like the writer was always about 2 seconds away from hugging the car and whispering "I want to be with you forever."

+1 Gives me hope that I'll be able to literally never get rid of my Camaro. :D

And you guys wonder why all of us MUSTANG owners are hanging out here !!

I've been a die hard Ford man all my life (as is my dad & 2 brothers as well as my late grandfather). Current daily driver is a 2004 V6 5-Spd. Mustang and had similar 1994 & 1998 models before it (15 yrs / 330k miles and counting).

As far as exterior, I like both the 2010 Mustang & Camaro. I like the looks of the Mustang Interior & Dash better than the Camaro and it does weigh 3-400 lbs. less, but that is where the buck stops. As I am only interested in the V6 MT versions of both, the Camaro blows the Mustang out of the water in almost every other way ... there just IS NO COMPARISON.

This Die Hard Ford fanatic just can't ignore the General anymore !!

Doug
