so far from what i read, available performance upgrades are limited but we're able to get a Cold Air Inductions CAI, Hurst STS, headers are unavailable, a V-MAX Black Ice-olator (not sure), supposedly a ported throttle body is in the works, and MACE is working on cam's for the LLT and once they have that on lock they said they'll start working on cam for the LFX, with the LFX motor being so new and different the market has yet to be touched

i predict it'll be closer to 2013 till we start getting good mods

wocampb 05-09-2012 11:51 PM

I am curious to know what is available as well. My 2012 should be in this weekend barring any further delays. I would like to see what I can start doing on this.

I would really appreciate if you would just post what you see around the forums here and ill update it into a list and I will try to get as much info on it as possible. I will start updating it tommrow, and I know that it will be a little bit longer until there are a lot of modifications for the LFX engine. I might even put non performance modifications I know its not in the right section but it would be so easy to have all types of modifications in one spot like exterior, interior modifications, performance mods, exhaust, and what not. It dosent hurt to be organized

Thanks for all your help in advance I greatly appreciate it!

v6 05-10-2012 12:03 AM

throttle body can now be pre-ordered

v6 05-10-2012 12:04 AM

Roto- Fab CAI's are also available. also, most exhaust is

Cold Air Induction's cold air intake
Rotofab's cold air intake
Injen short ram cold air intake

Short Throw Shifters available:
Hurst
MGW
Barton

Headers are obviously not "available" because there's no such thin on a 2012 LFX engine. :headbang:

The VMAX Ice-olator is NOT compatible with the LFX because the LFX runners do not match with the LLT runners.

chozn4service 05-10-2012 06:52 AM

Seems from what I've heard the Black ICE-olater would probably have no affect being that the IM is already plastic on the LFX motor vs metal on the LLT. Headers are not an option on the LFX and I do know Tracy is or has been working on the TB which I've been hearing is coming soon.
As already said, aftermarket exhaust, and CAI are available and Vararam is doing R&D on a intake for the LFX being that there is a design difference between the two motors. If I were want to get a CAI I would personally wait for the VR but that's me. If its anything like what is available to the LLT, its a killer CAI! I know I spent a lot of money in the early stages having a 'I want or have to have it now' mentality. Had I waited just a little longer in mods in certain areas I feel I could have had the best and not been in a position of trying to sell to get some of my money back on previous mods.
I think if I had a LFX I'd be looking exhaust first, then the TB, if you have a manual shift, a short throw shifter and almost forgot the Trifecta tune. I'd look to BNR Bad News Racing to see if its available for your car. It'll be the best money spent for a performance adder.

matt6589 05-10-2012 04:33 PM

I read in another thread that the an engine tune on a stock manual v6, or even one with an aftermarket exhaust and cai, is not that noticeable. Is this really the case?

I'm confused what are you asking?

matt6589 05-10-2012 07:33 PM

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=137350

I was referring to the above thread, where a couple people seemed to be saying that the power gains from a tune on a v6 with relatively few mods are fairly minimal, so I was wondering if people thought the same thing for the new LFX models or not.

colingordon 05-10-2012 08:15 PM

ohhh I gotcha ummm I am not to experinced and not very knowledgeable but I think its relatively the same but still better but wait for someone who has more knowledge on the subject to respond

JohnnyBfromPeoria 05-10-2012 08:17 PM

For a manual transmissioned car, I wouldn't put a tune very high on my list.

What stuff are you guys thinking of doing then? We can't do headers obviously, I've heard that cat back exhaust doesn't add too much power if any, and tune for a manual seems low on the list as you said. So I'm thinking CAI for sure, but performance wise I'm not sure what else to do except be patient I guess lol. What are other LFX owners thinking?

JohnnyBfromPeoria 05-10-2012 08:38 PM

CAI brand cai, perhaps a cat-back, ported throttle body. That's about it for the engine until more comes out (possible TB spacer).

Far higher on my list should be sub-frame inserts and goodies to tighten up the suspension. Later maybe move to lower it slightly/coil-overs/sway bars. Wheels and tires.

For me, I'd want to get as much mileage out of my dollars as possible, and at around $400 for the CAI that adds 15+ rwhp, that's a gimme. Ported throttle body may/may not add much peak, but should make it more responsive. That's less than $200 after core charge.

Alright I understand what your saying now! haha my opinion get a cat back or axle back exhaust with Solo High Flow Cats and a CAI INC CAI Intake

sycraft 05-10-2012 08:56 PM

or just drop a lsx454 in there

matt6589 05-10-2012 09:03 PM

I was on the SOLO website, and I saw high flow cats for the LLT but nothing for the LFX specifically. Will they work for both?

colingordon 05-10-2012 09:10 PM

Im not a hundred percent sure but I want to say they will give me a second to verify it for you. Also as you can tell I'm not done adding parts to the list above^^^^ so everyday you check back there should be more and as new ones come on the market. I am currently adding some right now

onelapdoc 05-10-2012 09:12 PM

Solo has cat back for the '12 v6 conv. I figure it will fit the coupe as well

Yeah but I dont think they have made the LFX high flow cats yet. Im pretty sure they WILL be made just not yet

matt6589 05-10-2012 09:43 PM

Do high flow cats add any noticeable amount of power?

colingordon 05-10-2012 09:45 PM

yeah I would say so probably about 15 HP I would defiantly get some high flow cats with a CAI INC Cai Intake system

onelapdoc 05-10-2012 09:52 PM

Had high flow cats on a '96 Impala SS. Started out with Borla headers and a flowmaster cat back. Added the cats later. Noticed a bit more pick up, esp from a rolling start

matt6589 05-10-2012 10:43 PM

So with a CAI and high flow cats, we're probably looking at approx. 350 HP? That's not too shabby...

Chef Camaro 05-10-2012 10:52 PM

too bad we cant get headers otherwise it'd be closer to 365hp, with mace working on CAM's in the near future we should be able to go north of 400 though

awfarley 05-10-2012 11:09 PM

It's good to see a fellow new member make a good thread. You are the kinda people we need on C5!

Not the 'Let's go street racing' type lol

I've been wondering, if we did get up to around that range, would the v6 transmission be capable of handling that on a daily basis without excessive wear?

Thanks man I really appreciate the support! Here's a link to my picture game I stole from another forum I have to say the game is addicting and very fun if it is played right and people actually participate (rules and instructions are in the thread) http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=222948

I would really appreciate if you could help start this thread off with me because it's such a fun game but seems like no one is willing to do the first challenge but I feel like once they see people do it they will do it!

Honestly I think you will be fine. Now if you run the car down the road like a dragster that's a different story, but if you use it as a regular daily driver and gun it like normal like you would without all that HP you should be fine. But it is deffintly a good feeling knowing that you have a very powerful car!

matt6589 05-11-2012 12:13 AM

With cam shafts (when mace finishes them), CAI, high flow cats, and ported throttle body, it's looking like we may be able to get some serious power! It's exciting! lol

maybe not serious power, but we'll be on the way to it

colingordon 05-11-2012 08:21 AM

I mean put a supercharger in it and well have the power!

Ike 05-11-2012 09:10 AM

Superchargers or Turbochargers

I am looking at the 2012 lfx V6 to replace my 1995 LT1 Corvette. I am specifically interested in the LT2 package and was wondering if anyone had advice/info on the different options and whether they were worth the extra bucks?

Also, I would want to supercharge or turbocharge later...are there any products yet?

colingordon 05-11-2012 09:37 AM

There you go I added one supercharger I dont have enough time to do more research but mor SC and TT's will be on there eventually

LT1 is an engine. 1LT is a trim model. LS1, LS2, LS3 are engines. 1LS and 2LS are trims. Don't confuse the two.

Ike 05-11-2012 11:22 AM

Yea, sorry, I know that...I was more interested in if there were any dif's in suspension, exhaust, engine specs...I have trouble gettting detail like that in one place.
