Day one down. I was hoping to be on the road tonight.
I think the biggest issue is that the belt tensioner is off alignment. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-7...617_174936.jpg Tracy - I'll have the installer call you tomorrow. |
good luck bro!!

Looks like your going to need a whole new pully or pieced fabbed up to make that work. Good luck.

Yours is misaligned in the same direction mine was. If it was the other direction you might be able to shim it, but you cannot in the direction you need to go. Your options would be to file down the lip on the bolt hole, but I don't know if there is enough to file down to fix that misalignment. Your other option is to grind down the thickness of the bracket piece that connect the tensioner to the supercharger. Those would be the easiest things to do, IMO. |
Hey Erick, I contacted Darren at your shop and he is Rockin and Rollin and has the alignment worked out.

Found that the bracket is a bit short and the washer shims shown here on the outside, need to be moved to the inside. This seems to be a common adjustment which was re-engineered on the latest RX version.

I'm having the erector set brackets shown here re-done:
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-3...255BUNSET%255D They should end up looking similar to this: http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/...1068A0E665.jpg |
You didn't like my modification with the brackets? Lol
|
Not so much. Good try though.
|
cool stuff... let me know when you're ready to try it out at Lapeer! ;)

And, I'll Still have a hard keeping up You!

Day 2 of the instal and getting closer but not done. The time is adding up and at $90.00/hr, I'm stressed.
They are currently working on the fitting in the air ducting. Everything is tight and in a couple of points parts are touching that shouldn't. The duct between the belt tensioner and the fan are touching, and it still needs the coupler: https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Z...618_164809.jpg The lower side of this duct passes a narrow space between the frame and radiator, requiring a bend of the power steering hose. This is going to be a rattle point: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-8...618_165108.jpg Looking down the back side of the radiator you'll see the coupler that will go to the air cleaner. The installer has decided to add a longer duct to the coupler so the air cleaner is more accessible from the top. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-X...2-no/photo.jpg |
Unfortunately all this is "normal" for the kit. I had all of the same issues. I addressed them recently with Jamie (the guy V6owner used). Definitely not the cleanest kit.

I will get it taken care for you Erick. No stressing!

What shop is doing the install?
|
Vision Tire and Auto Lansing Michigan. They have a great team of highly trained techs, but they don't do this kind of thing every day. They do a lot of fleet work. I've used them for the last four years. They charge a little more but they worth it.

it was the first kit installed outside of RX so we had little to work with. Then when I installed the kit on Andrew's (white camaro) it came with longer brackets that reached the bumper support but it was the first LFX install so we had to tweak a few other spots. I even added some brackets here and there to help support everything. Quote:
If you or Darren have any other questions feel free to call me again. I don't mind helping out since I've done a few of these. sent via J-Rod's Tapatalk II |

Go to my build thread here and go mid way down page 3 to read information on that. Based on what I've seen of Alex's tensioner bracket, you should be fine. The other thing is getting the tune perfect, since we cannot have a custom tune and have to use mail order tunes it is kind of hard to do.. Quote:

AWESOME, just now catching up to this thread too. See you at Lapeer. After the first race you are going to have t ospot me a few car lengths.

Thanks for all the comments and support guys.
I'm off to a business trip so won't be able to post anything new untill next Monday. The car is in capable hands though. Can't say enough great things about Vision. They are doing a great job and I think they have overcome some issues that will hopefully help everyone. Issues aside, the system is solid, and should prove to be a great experience. Can't wait to share that with you all. |
