Looking back from day 1

Just wanted to know if you guys have any regrets buying a camaro? Would you buy another one in the future? How do you feel about the money invested in your cars?! Do you regret not buying something else?

mc_acoustic 08-15-2013 06:38 AM

For my first car I am happy, still get excited to drive the car everyday.

My next car will be a v8 camaro though, and i'll use the 6 as my daily.

kevinw 08-15-2013 06:57 AM

as the 2011 2012 vert owners. it seems those were the problem childs

SlingShot 08-15-2013 07:17 AM

I'm on my 3rd 5th Gen ... No regrets here

PalmerGA 08-15-2013 07:37 AM

The only regret is I didn't go ahead and get a SS from the start. Loved the 1LT, but it was just a 8-month stepping stone up to my SS.

jcieutat 08-15-2013 07:41 AM

I regret not spending the extra on a 2SS. There were only 2 1LE's within 300 miles of me at the time and I chose the less expensive 1SS. I then added leather through the dealership and it has been a nightmare. Almost 4 months later, I am still getting the leather issue resolved.

Oldag 08-15-2013 08:08 AM

Nope.

SCHMIZE 08-15-2013 08:26 AM

I'm on my 3rd one too, and each one has been better than the last!

Very happy with my 1SS/RS.
Added the Bluetooth module and console gauge package within the 1st month of ownership.
Engine bolt-ons and Pedders suspension inserts have made this car "mine".
I would create this exact car again

TooCool5 08-15-2013 09:03 AM

No regrets, very happy with my LS 4 yrs now.
Still thrilled to get out and drive it.

Wildcherry13 08-15-2013 09:19 AM

Just like others have mentioned. I regret not getting the 2ss 1le when I had the chance. Now I have to wait. And theres no hope for a 13 1LE anymore. They seem to be all sold in my area. Other than that, the 1LT is awesome. Responds very well..

RonnieG 08-15-2013 10:02 AM

Regrets?
similar to many others, my regret is not getting it right the first time. 2LT ---> 2SS/1LE... but its ok, as the $$ loss was worth the price of complete satisfaction for me.

Future Camaro?
Very possible. Depends on my needs.

Investment?
only if you mean investing in happiness... Camaro's drain $$ for sure.. gas and mod bugs

Regret not buying something else?
Not at all.. Nothing comes close when looking at other cars for same value or less.

wakespeak 08-15-2013 10:07 AM

Most fun I have ever had owning a car since first one in 1980. Great product.

CamaroLB 08-15-2013 10:09 AM

Are you kidding me? I thank God every day that I bought a 5th Gen. IMO, its the best generation chevy has ever built

gajagfan 08-15-2013 11:04 AM

In 1993, I bought a new Z/28. In 2002, my wife and I traded the Z/28 for a 2001 WS6. Now in 2013 we sold the WS6 outright, and bought the 2013 1SS 1LE. For 20 years I have driven a Camaro or a Firebird, and I do not regret any of them. The 2013 is the finest one of the bunch, but I do not regret any of the cars. I have always bought exactly what I wanted so I do not have any problems driving the cars for 10 or more years.

2012-1822 08-15-2013 11:09 AM

No regrets. This sounds like a regret and it's not, but last time I buy a black one. But I love the car. And yes I plan on buying another Camaro, so i garage this one and break it out for special events, when it has about 50k miles on it, maybe a 6th Gen? Depending on when they come out.

Ringo64 08-15-2013 11:16 AM

No regrets. It's what I wanted since I was a kid.

aggieguy13 08-15-2013 11:21 AM

HUD would've been nice but my finance situation choice was 2ss or 1ss 1le. I think we all am agree which is the better choice for same price

ajp 08-15-2013 11:21 AM

I still grin when I am walking upto my car in a parking lot.

Had it almost 4 years.

Angrybird 12 08-15-2013 11:23 AM

2nd 5th Gen and the only regret I had was buying a coupe in 2010 and not waiting for the convertible in the first place. Not that I didn't like the 2010, it was a blast, we just prefer a convertible.
No regrets buying my 2012 Convertible at all, 14 months and 14,500 miles of permagrin! Including the 2010 make that 44 months and 42,100 miles of permagrin!!!

Aubrey64 08-15-2013 11:28 AM

My only regret was that I didn't do more research on getting a v8 rather than a V6. I didn't even consider getting a V8 as an option, when in actuality I could have gotten one. But I'm extremely happy with my V6, but my next camaro will definintly be a V8.

No regrets! The wife now wants a Synergy Green model!

2010 SSRS 08-15-2013 12:01 PM

no regrets at all, I love my 2SSRS, best looking Camaros ever made

wkid1le 08-15-2013 12:04 PM

I have a 1LE on order which will be my 4th Camaro, no regrets, they are fun cars to own and drive.

LStick 08-15-2013 12:07 PM

No regrets.
Great work car, fun road car, economical to operate, will probably recoup most of my 22k "investment" when I sell or trade it in if I keep it clean.

Sugarfree135 08-15-2013 12:13 PM

My only regret is not getting the exact color I wanted as cyber grey met. Is the worst color ever for dust and fingerprints lol but I got mine at an unbeatable price so it's all good ;-)

sanjosebmx 08-15-2013 12:57 PM

I love my car.. it's my dream car really.

strych9 08-15-2013 01:38 PM

Interesting question that I'm happy to answer. I actually DID regret purchasing this car in the beginning, but after modding it and getting all of the issues ironed out, I'm happy with it.

I'm a difficult customer. I've had a lot of different cars and know what I like. To me, here's where Chevy failed with the bone stock 5th-gen Camaro:
  1. The stock SS exhaust barely has any presence. At least when a stock 5.0 rolls by, you can hear it, and identify what it is.
  2. Paint issues
  3. Lack of basic equipment that is now considered "standard" by today's measure (i.e. automatic temp control, etc.)
  4. Fit and finish issues (i.e. instrument cluster bezel fitment, etc.)
  5. Basic parts issues (it took GM three years to correct a leaking master cylinder reservoir...really??)
Had I gotten a better trade deal, a Boss or Cobra would be sitting in my garage right now. Having my Camaro set up as I do now, in retrospect, making that trade would have been a regret.

Was in the same boat, and made the same decision. No regrets what so ever!

bowtiefamily 08-15-2013 02:09 PM

I have owned one of every generation and these are amazing. For the money there is no better enjoyment.

Think of it like this a trip to a large amusement park for two is easily $300.00 for the day if not more. You stand in line next to other crabby people and ride a ride for 90 seconds. in a day you may get 10 rides.

For an average of $600.00 (more or less) a month you drive these awesome cars several times.....so ok screw the math they're just fun to drive and I am 16 all over again! :burnrubber:

steelersgeek70 08-15-2013 02:26 PM

Well, only 2 really! One is that it wasn't a manual and the second is that I didn't get a ZL1. Other than that, I love mine!

RubyCamaro 08-15-2013 02:46 PM

No regrets. The best purchase I ever made. Now I just wish I could win the lottery so I could make more Camaro related purchases.

MattSS 08-15-2013 03:04 PM

Ordered my 2SS 2 weeks after the dealerships had their 'unveiling' back in 2009. Picked it up a month later, 2nd one on the streets in my town. Best car I've ever owned. 4 years in and I still get permagrin when I walk up to it. That's why it's called permagrin!

nope not one bit, drove three hours in the rain to begin the process, almost drove home without it after a long day of test driving and trying to get my loan to go through, but later that night i drove back home with an awesome car in the rain with a perm grin and still have it !

Wildcherry13 08-15-2013 03:20 PM

Oh another thing I regret about my 5th Gen is when i googled information about it, C5 popped up all over the place. I learned everything about a 5th gen. Thats when I said "damn, I shouldve bought a v8!"
:frusty: :sad0147: lol

ECCamaro 08-15-2013 04:07 PM

All I can say GM is Trunk Monkey. You had it on older vehicles! It has multiple uses! Especially keep those teenagers in check! :sm0:

Interior quality is just dissapointing in my opinion.... If the dash was lesthrt snd they threw in some polished alluminum maybe...

Sugarfree135 08-16-2013 01:40 PM

Oh come on you know you like the plastic that scratches if you look at it wrong 😜 lol It is a gm vehicle they have never been known for quality interior parts, it's not like a 90's Honda where the car can fall apart around the dash that still looks as beautiful as day 1

TSSUNAMI 08-16-2013 03:01 PM

Regret feels like such a strong word.

However...

I WAS completely happy with my 1SS until I bought my fiancee's Acadia, which has leather seats, bluetooth all the bells and whistles. Prior to my Camaro I was always a Jeep guy, so I never had such amenities and didn't quite know what I was missing.

While I need none of those things to enjoy my car, I've realized that leather isn't as hot and sticky in NY as it was in the hotter places that I've lived. Sliding into a plush leather seat is very very nice.

I also wish that the 1LE package had been available when I bought my car.

Oh, and My CGM is the first non-white vehicle I have ever owned. While I love my CGM, there are many many times when I see a summit white Camaro and wonder if I made the right choice.

All that said, I do love my car, and will likely keep it for a while :) I'm waiting until the 6th gen comes out do decide whether I want to jump to the next platform. If I don't then it's either go balls out and build my SS into a FI monster, or try to find a nice, clean used SW ZL1 :)
