Does she have a sister??

AGM 1LE 03-03-2020 11:46 AM

Thats awesome that you are working out of your living room doing everything yourself, love to cat chilling next to the engine lol. Whats the plan for the engine/ power adder to get to 1000+hp?

IKILLEDSUPERMAN_ZL1 03-03-2020 01:07 PM

Awesome pics!

seriously though, I agree with everyone else- amazing build and huge respect for doing everything yourself. Thanks for posting!!

hammdo 03-07-2020 12:31 PM

With a build like this, we should have continued car of the month!

Awesome build!

Just read thru your build. Very cool that you did yourself respect for that. You need to turn into a business. I like the hood mod never seen that on these cars. Keep it going!!!

hammdo 03-14-2020 02:26 PM

Yeah you needed a TB that was supercharger supported. I did the NW102 that was SC compliant for that reason — SC sucks the other TB blade shut on the weaker TBs - like BBK and the base NW 102.

Nick Williams 102MMSC is the one that works...

Maybe I missed it. Is this thing gonna be on e85? I would say that if it is it makes middle or upper 7xx to the wheels. Are you planning on spraying the rest of the way to 1xxx?

Are you tuning off of a loggable wideband?

Nice, I have the same setup. Good luck brother!

rich2342 04-06-2020 05:49 AM

Wow!

Are you an engineer? Great attention to detail and amazing build!

I could never, without ample help and knowledge.

This car is going to be a track beast..

Curious why you didn't go with a Z/28?

ChuckZL1 04-13-2020 01:51 PM

You have some MAD skills.

RobZL1 04-18-2020 01:37 PM

Awesome work,, and awesome build!!

Fwiw, these ZL1 6spd drivelines only lose about 12-13%. So 850rwhp is maybe 970 at the flywheel. To get to 1100 flywheel, you'd need to put down about 960rwhp, and a 1900 isn't gonna get there.

With your current mods on 93 octane, I'd guess 760 or so at the wheels, or about 870 motor.

Hope you shatter my guess on the dyno, though! Keep up the good work!!

RyangAsh 04-22-2020 10:44 AM

I kind of hinted at this earlier...but I am not trying to bust any balls. It absolutely needs e85 to get anywhere close to 800 whp in my opinion.

m3andak 04-24-2020 02:14 PM

Dude! Congats on a awesome build.:happy0180:

RyangAsh 05-01-2020 11:02 AM

Awesome build and detail. I want to see some times and trap speeds. That tells the tale. ;)

rich2342 05-19-2020 06:59 AM

Looking nice.

rich2342 05-20-2020 07:53 AM

I bet..

I know the feeling

RobZL1 08-02-2020 08:20 PM

your build is fantastic, how long has it taken since you rolled the car up your driveway? it looks like you really took your time and enjoyed every minute.
great job! 👍

I'm curious. what was causing the misfires?

Yeah, I'm curious about that as well. Any change in features?

I have seen new plugs go bad in an hour, but never 4 at once.:faint: I went back to the NGK's one step colder and gapped them to 0.030". I also upped the coil dwell time by 10% to deal with the wild cam I installed, a little hotter spark cant hurt! The car fires right up and idles at 750 rpm.

Thanks for the reply. I had a similar misfire situation and still do to some extent. I changed my #4 plug and it helped a ton but I think I need to tighten my gap. I'm currently at .039" @ 14.5 psi boost. I bet if I tighten them up like you did, it'll help.
No issues with the 10% coil dwell?

FasNuf 08-07-2020 08:46 PM

Awesome! Thanks Vic

As your boost go's up your gap needs to come down I'm at 14 to 15 psi and run mine at .030 with no misfires my tuner said I could go down to .028 to .026 if it starts to misfire but so far no problem's. I think I read somewhere in ttshovel's build thread he's down to to .018 to .020 gap with high 20s to low 30s boost. Hope this helps you guys.

Thanks, I’ll give it a shot. I occasionally get a feeling like the power is breaking up near redline. I logged but never saw what was actually going on. I hate removing my plugs. I always seem to break at least one.

fireman1153 08-13-2020 12:13 AM

I hate to interrupt such an awesome thread just to ask a question but where did you get your 6 point roll bar from and can the cross bar be removed easily for daily driving? I’m in the market for one since my last power upgrade but don’t want to lose the capability of my kids riding in the back seat when I’m not heading to the track. Thanks man.

fireman1153 08-14-2020 05:29 PM

I actually have a harness bar already but have been looking into the roll bar since I’m now making just under 1k rwhp. I really need the roll bar at the track. Thank you for your quick response man and I will check into the options you provided.

Thanks man. I really appreciate your help.

bottletalk 08-20-2020 06:49 AM

hey vic how did you wire your amp and speakers? did you bridge any channels and/or parallel any connections? 1 or 2 ohm? 4ohm?

bottletalk 08-28-2020 02:53 AM

looking great! curious why you never paralleled any of your speaker connections? that amp loves low ohms.

did you do anything for power upgrades? Alternator?cap? with the amount of detail you put in I’m surprised that amp doesn’t have a fan wired to a stat lol.
great build, the info is valued highly!

FasNuf 08-29-2020 11:50 PM

Who's doing your dyno tune? Or are you just renting the Dyno?

I know Wong's is in washington as he did my first tune before I got HPTuners And started learning.

Look forward to more posts!

I am thinking of going to The Mustang Shop (TMS) in renton again, they did a good job when I took my red ZL1 to be tuned. Prior I took it to wong's 3 times, he could not get my tune right. I know allot of people like his tunes, I am not one of them. I posted my tune from wong's on the HP Tuners forum without telling them who done it. They tore it apart, when I told them who had done it they were very disappointed. He had a very good rep on their site, I guess with everything quality comes and goes.

I have been working on my VVE and spark charts, I have my normal driving AFR within 1% so I have turned on my short and long term trims. I may have to adjust my spark a couple more times but I finally feel I have done all I can without a dyno in my backyard. I am including one of my latest tunes, feel free to take a look at it and compare to what you are running and your stock tune to see the differences. :happy0180:

I like your videos!

Yea, When I was there talking about his shop, he said it was just a job now. I guess he started it because he enjoyed cars and performance, maybe not so much now if it's just a job. Get em out the door as fast as you can is what most of them do now.

Thanks for the likes on my videos...much appreciated when a person of your skill set enjoys them.
