Mpd1 hoods are available again…

Having missed the opportunity to buy one of Eric’s hoods I would search now and again to see if there was any new development in who bought his molds. There was a deal that fell through and the sale didn’t happen, etc.

Last year, I found the company. We emailed a few times about mpd1 and I helped them identify which bottom mold went to what top mold where I could. I wasn't much of a help since I basically only recognized the copo and the cowl hood. The gen5 hoods are but a small subset of the molds they bought. They basically received a bunch of molds with little to no documentation. It would take some time to get things sorted out.

Well, It looks like they have figured things out and the mpd1 hoods are back in production and for sale.

If you always wanted an mpd1 hood but missed the opportunity to get one (like me) today is your lucky day.

If you buy one, don’t forget to post pictures when you get your hood. I plan on picking one up in the spring.

I think they will do his work justice. This company seems to have been in the automotive aftermarket industry for a while. The work involved to “fix” a hood after it comes out depends on the mold. As long as they don’t break that mold, it should come out the same (all things being equal) like he built it.

Totally awesome, I hope so!! My hood was, according to my body shop guy, THE BEST AFTERMARKET PIECE BODY PIECE HE HAS EVER SEEN!! That says a lot. Hardly no prep was needed to paint it, and I have had it for about 6 years now. :happy0180:

Here's mine! Same as 1JEWLDSSRS. He's correct. The hood is the best aftermarket I have ever seen. It's been on the car for about 7 years. Quality, quality, quality! Underside looks as good as the top side!

Unfortunately I don't see the mpd1. Sand several part numbers have no images at all*♂️*♂️

Yes he did!! I had the pleasure of meeting him when I drove down to his shop and he installed and "tweaked" the fit for me. Awesome and very nice guy!! Sad that we lost him. But the way I see it now, I have one of his "masterpieces" on MY Camaro!! RIP Eric!!:bow::thumbup:

Yeah pretty poor website. Who asks for $1000 and doesn’t even provide an image? And the ones that have a picture barely show the hood. I’d be interested but I’d like to actually SEE it.

1JEWLDSSRS 02-12-2022 05:09 PM

Yea, that is kinds vague isn't it. They really need more pics of the hoods that do show, underside and all, and add the pics for the others! I wouldn't buy anything I can't see either. Makes ya wonder....

Here's a few better pictures of my hood that better shows the underside and how it looks from the drivers seat. The quality was absolutely outstanding both on the top side and the bottom side. I've purchased many hoods over my life from other manufacturers and never saw the quality of his hood..

I honestly couldn't be happier that this was posted. I stumbled across someone's car on here and loved the Z hood, shortly after I saw Eric had passed some time ago.

Now I know the next part on the must have list!

Yes sir! Hopefully the company that is supposed to be making them again does as good of a job as Eric did. If they do, than it will be a great hood to buy. Also looks like the prices are pretty much still what they were when Eric made them. And yea, that Z hood is really nice, but I wanted the cowl hood. Tooke me a while to decide though. lol.

I hope so. I'm still back and forth but leaning towards the cowl hood. The ram air looks bomb but my friends all have Mopar, I can't be fitting in too much :smiling1:

lol, I hear ya there bro!! You DON'T want to look like a MOPAR!! Yea all my Camaro brothers and sisters here, and every other one as well, are still running stock hoods and I wanted to "be different" than any other Camaro around here, so I got mine. And one of the reasons I didn't get the Z Force hood is because of the sudden/drastic direction change/bend in the air tunnel from the scoop to the CAI area. The cowl hood I have, right under the back side of the rear of the cowl area there are 2 very large "screened" openings where the air around the bottom of the lower windshield is "sucked" into the tunnel that runs the entire length of the hood and nicely curves over and is open to the sealed CAI area. First pic is the underside of the cowl/copo hood, and the second is how the tunnel of the ZForce is. Notice the difference in the air flow.

MPD1 hood with vent installed

1JEWLDSSRS 03-03-2022 08:52 AM

Wow bro, that looks pretty interesting!! Is that the "copo" hood he made? or the functional cowl induction hood like I have? He made 2 different cowl hoods for our cars. Looks cool... I had thought about doing something like that, but didn't want to interrupt the airflow in the tunnel to the CAI from the backside of the cowl area vents.

blake-b 03-03-2022 03:52 PM

That is original cowl hood. The CAI area wasn't being used because the car was a twin turbo setup.

That looks killer with the OEM vent!

Is this hood slightly smaller than the anderson composite one? I didnt like how high the cowl looks from the inside.

So... how do I order the one that you have? Are those the window washer nozzles on yours??

So I guess I would call these folks and see if they are legit... And yes, they are the stock nozzles, just had to take them off the plastic bracket they were attached to on your stock hood. My hood came with the rubber tubing inserted into the cowl area for the nozzles, and they just clip into the 2 small holes in the underside of the hood then attach the tubing to them. Work just fine. From post #1.

Wow had no idea someone bought the molds. Does anyone have a place they recommend to get stripes for a COPO hood? I plan to jus take it to a graphic shop next month but thought there may be specific kit for these hoods

Hey there, I have searched everywhere for stripes/hood spears to fit these tall hoods, nothing. I ended up getting a gradient flame kit from American Carcraft and took it to my stripe shop, and he had to custom trim it to make it fit and look good on the hood. Nothing out there, all of them are designed for the "stock height" hoods..

Thats kinda what I figured but thought Id ask here first. Im headed out to Vegas in a month so a few shops out there that should be able to handle it without an issue.

Cool bro, good luck and have fun!! The other option is to have the stripes painted on, but I think that would be expensive. Here is "alice" with the MPD hood with painted stripes. Looks killer..

Bring this back…anyone know size of bolts to the mpd1 spoiler used? Was it stock? I lost them when I had the spoiler off and moved

Hey again. When I had the MPD spoiler on my Camaro I believe it used the stock bolts. I don't think it came with any. My Streetfighter I have now came with it's own bolts.

Like I posted earlier, contact these folks and see if in fact they actually do make these hoods. I really love mine. Fit and finish was awesome, perfect from Eric when he had MPD. RIP Eric... There are others out there, but I have heard of fitment issues with all of them.

I took a chance and bought it. Now to wait 4-8 weeks. Hopefully it will turn out great as Ive read nothing but great reviews on that company regarding aftermarket body kits.
