Copying CTS-V Shifter ?

I just recently attended the 2010 Saint Louis Auto Show. Well I sat in a CTS-V equipped with an automatic transmission (which is faster than it's manual conterpart btw lol) and the interior is stunning.

I was wanting to know if there was some way to "mock" the CTS-V shifter to create a similar one in an SS. The leather at the base of the shifter instead of our plastic track basically. And, of course, an SS in place of the V. :iono: :help:

A leather shifter boot would be nice. I'm surprised no one has come up with an upgrade kit yet. The stock auto shifter does seem to be a weak area for looks.

+1

Let's go aftermarket. Let's get something going.

StlRomAniaN 01-31-2010 09:15 PM

Didn't DVScustoms do one to a member's car?

StlRomAniaN 01-31-2010 09:49 PM

PAGING INDPOWER

You should do it!

Don't let the thread die. lol

i am surprised i havent seen one, id like one to be built

philthy 02-01-2010 02:53 PM

I would buy that

Michael_Js 02-01-2010 03:02 PM

I wonder if you can use the Manual's boot - which looks just like that. Not sure if it's long enough to fit since the Manual is wide but not long...

philthy 02-01-2010 03:55 PM

Actually, I think a full boot that did away with the outer plate that has the "prndm" on it would be better (the DIC displays what gear you are in, so it is redundant.)

But either way, I would purchase one.

+1 for a great thread. Good job me.

This would definitely spice up our interior. Maybe even a carbon fiber piece from DVScustoms/Indpower for the center console/four pack gauges.

Milk 1027 02-01-2010 05:09 PM

The 2010 CTS-V sedan starts at 60 grand and change.

R1Ecko 02-03-2010 08:07 AM

That interior is gorgeous. So many buttons  Looks like a spaceship. Maybe when I have kids I can convince the missus I need this for the backseats. And the supercharger of course

Need VIN from a manual trans Camaro

Help!

I am trying to get the shifter boot from GMPartsDirect.com, but they want a VIN for a manual transmission 2010 Camaro. Obviously, my VIN will not work since it is a automatic trans. Does anyone have a VIN for a manual transmission Camaro? I really want to try and do this mod to my car. I can't stand the look of the automatic trans shifter bezel. Thanks!

ttexxan 02-04-2010 09:52 AM

Dont care for it would rather have the concept one

that easy, go to the link to the squirrel (http://camaro.spasticsquirrel.com/) and look at the first SS in the list and there is the VIN number...piece of cake.

DangerZL1 02-04-2010 11:51 AM

I thought an aftermarket shifter manufacturer like Hurst or B&M was working on a new shifter for the automatic? I've seen folks add a leather shifter boot to the 5th gen auto Accords and change the knob out for an aftermarket one.

Yes I tried that and the one I gave them was not valid. I ended up finding a number elsewhere and got the part number. GMPartsDirect wants a lot for shipping, so I will try local dealers. Here is the info from them...

"Thank you. Per your supplied VIN, here is the part number you requested.
92233392 Manual transmission control lever boot; black in color."

Hurst introduced their new automatic shifter fo rthe Challenger at SEMA. WHen I talked to them they said they were working on one for the Camaro maybe the end of this year.

CamaroDreams07 04-01-2010 02:20 AM

I gotta be honest here I like the look of the stock one better than that. I might be alone, but that's just what suits my eye.
