Need Advice ASAP
2 Attachment(s)
Went to the track yesterday after I installed my BMR rear cradle bushings and BMR extreme anti-roll bar. Mind you I have already the BMR toe rods and BMR trailing arms with the bushing as well and the 1 inch drop springs and Nitto NT05r on the stock ss rims. I have a tvs 2300 with the works, pushing about 500rwhp, I thought I could easily finally break 12s since before I had this setup I ran a 12.5 with 22s and without the supercharger. I think my fast time yesterday was a 12.6:mad0260:. All of my times are left of the time slip, maybe some of yall experienced track guys can give me pointers to what I am doing wrong here. Maybe I am spinning out of the whole too much or maybe these tires are not right for me and need a fatter tire. Thinking maybe the mickey Thompson 305/35/20 will help me out some. I know guys on here that have my exact setup running mid 11s. Any advice or technique advice or recommendations will be great. Thanks guys.
Also, some members are saying that the mickey Thompson ET II 305/35/20 don't fit the stock ss rim and others are saying that they do fit. Iv seen pics with members on here with the 305/35/20 on the stock ss rim, Maybe somebody can clarify this for me... |
Terrible 60'. Looks like your blowin the tires off. What is your tire pressure and burn out procedure?

60' doesn't look good. You must be spinning badly. Lower tire pressure to 18 lbs, do a good burnout, Nittos need it, and try launching just off idle. If your tires stick or it bogs bump up your launch rpms until you get to the point where it just hooks. With that power you certainly can be in the low 12s or high 11s.

I'm not blown away by your 1/8 mile MPH, seems low to me. Might also want to play with shift points and bring that up a bit. I trap over 90 MPH in the 1/8 with < 400RWHP stock internal.

I probably should shut up since I don't have the experience others do, but I have had similar issues as you are having. I have tried Nitto NT555R tires on the stock 20" wheels and NT05R tires on a Weld 18" x 10.5" wheel, and the traction was lacking compared to the MT 305/45R18 tires. I couldn't get the Nittos to work consistently. Unfortunately, you're limited in 20" MTs, since they do not recommend their 20" DR on anything less than a 10" wheel. From my experience the Nittos are not very good when you hit the RWHP you have.
I also agree with John that your 1/8 MPH is low. I'm seeing 95-96 MPH at the 1/8 and 120-121 MPH at the 1/4 with less RWHP on a NA setup. I wouldn't begin to pretend to know why yours are that low. Now that I've been of little to no help, I'll shut up. |
nittos like a lot of heat . spin those bitches till they scream

I think you need to get off the OEM wheels as well. They are HEAVY pigs. Look good but weigh a ton. You should get you a set of Mickey Thompson on 18" wheels at minimum. If you can swing a whole set of front/rear Welds or something similar it will be even better.
Your 60' is no good at all. You must be blowing the tires off the line. Do you have a line lock? You might get one and really try heating up the tires. What RPM are you leaving at? What are you shifting at? There is definitely an issue going on. I have a stock motor with just headers/intake/tune at about 415 rwhp. With a set of 18" MT on back and OEM wheels on front I'm still getting consistent 8.1 1/8th mile @ 90 mph and that's only with 1.9 60' times. I think I can get into the 8.0 or 7.9 with more seat time and maybe changing my shift points and/or launching RPM. |
Yeah the 60' killing your time. I have not used the NT05 but did run the 555r on stock wheel with a lot of heat in them was cutting 1.60 60' running high 10s at 585 rwhp.
If you want to run 20" wheels try the 555R and heat the hell out of them. I have cut low as 1.57 60' with them. |
Give me a call and I'll give you a few things to try.980 521 0722 call anytime

Your 60ft really does need work but I think there is something else going on. Your DA corrected trap speed is only like 114mph and that isn't so good considering your mods. Maybe heat soak or something else but I would think with those mods that you would be trapping around 120mph corrected. Also, you say your running a NT05R on stock wheels? what size is that because I thought they only made a 315/35R20. If your using a 315 on a stock wheel then that's probably part of your problem as well. I would suggest getting some cheap 18x9.5" wheels with some Mickey Thompson 305/45R18 tires.

The 1st thing I would do if i were you is solve your 60ft problem. Mickey Thompson ET streets will hold much better, but I'd bet your not doing a good enough burnout process. Do you pull far enough out of the water box when you start your burnout? You also need to get some data logs on your passes! Your engine could be hot as hell during your run. What is the DA where your at? There are a whole lot of factors that you need to look at. If you are at 5000ft elevation that would partly explain your mph being so low. Tune could need some adjustments. Nothing against Pat G bc I've heard nothing but good stuff about him. But a dyno won't tell you everything that's going on down a 1/4 mile run.
You've got good parts on it, so your car should murder those times! Spinning is the first issue I would address. |
