new frameless mirror retrofit

9 Attachment(s)
I'm going to show the way that I use to make this retrofit on my 2010

step 1
switch the Pin 10 (red) to Pin 6 (mirror connector)
Attachment 421821

step 2
I get supply voltage from the red/white wire from the instrument panel to console harness or
CLSTR fuse (F4) is the same circuit. With this wire is it possible to use the mirror (make call or connect to Onstar ) even if the engine switch is off as in the previous mirror by pressing the power button on the stereo and maintain the mirror on until the call is over
Attachment 421832
or
Attachment 421829

step 3
I get (Low Speed GMLAN) from instrument panel to console harness
Attachment 431633

step 4
I cut these wires. (Left-Light green Right yellow/black) the new mirror DOES NOT USE. this harness is under the right kick panel, closest to the door
Attachment 421834
I use this wires to send supply voltage and data signal
Attachment 421846
plug the GMLAN wire to Left-Light green
plug the supply voltage to Right yellow/black

step 5
connects the mirror and enjoy it
Attachment 423575
Attachment 576790

Apparently in the 2010 the Onstar module the green and red LED's commands to BCM are not sends

any questions send me a PM.

Thanks for working this out. Pretty involved for just swapping a mirror!

Haven't had a chance to look yet (and probably won't until my mirror comes in).

Is there a way to fit in a pass-thru harness behind the right kick panel? That way I can Tap the fuse block, T-tap the GMLAN, and swap the pin in the mirror, without cutting any original wiring harnesses.

or

If there's space, I may try a pass-thru harness at the mirror connector and run the 2 wires down the A-pillar to the Accessory Power and GMLAN. Doing this, I won't have to swap the pins either! (Ofer; knowing you, you're already working on this...)

I like to keep the integrity of the OEM wiring wherever I can. It helps make troubleshooting easier later on when I dork up the next electrical mod!:mad0259:

Thanks again. Great job!:w00t:

Everyone was so excited for this, now it appears no one cares. Lol. Nice work figuring the wiring out!

Since I don't use any electrical funtions of the mirror, but want the smaller size, will I damage the car by plugging the smaller one in? Maybe I could mount it and not plug it in. Will this set off any alarms?

I will more then likely add this to the Mod list after Ofer has the MyLink2 (with Nav) working on the 2010 Camaros. That is if the Backup Camera video can be displayed in the MyLink screen.

But if you dont connect it you will have no auto dim and may have Onstar problums.

No it wouldn't damage the mirror or the car, and does no affect any alarm, but if you don't plug it, wouldn't have the function of the automatic dimming interior and outside mirror, and couldn't have communication with onstar through the mirror

Got my mirror last night. This thing is SWEET! I'd still like to work up a PnP harness before I install it, but may press forward on our next Mod & Maintenance Day, 6 Oct.

God that is a sexy mirror. Forgive me if this has been answered, but is it auto-dimming?

Why did you use the power from the CLSTR fuse (F4), cant we use the power there for the old mirror?
