V6 or V8

I am trying to decide if a V6 would make me happy. If I go for a V6 than I can consider buying a convertible, if a V8 it will be a coupe. I live in the north so summers are short so I am sitting on the fence.

You guys out there that really wanted a V8 but ended up with the 6 are you happy or do you regret it. Same question with guys that wanted a convertible but bought a coupe, would you make the same decision?

I know that it's subjective but I'm really hoping someone will say something that will give me a push in either direction.

Thanks

There is the best of both worlds; V-8 convertible! :D

That's were I get into the price issue. I'm trying to keep the price around 25K Canadian and there isn't a lot out there. Sure would be nice though.

V8 w/ a sunroof? :thumb:

If you have to have a convertible, and the only way is w/ a V6... well, that's your answer.

If you are 6' tall I would get a convertible whichever you prefer, my head is on the ceiling of my ss sunroof.

The only way to know for sure is to drive both. I wasn't happy with the get-up-n-go of the v6, but there are plenty of others here that are.

A convertible might not be the best choice if you live up north. I live in Indiana and the winters aren't fun. I have a coupe and love it. If I lived where it was warm year round I would prefer a convertible. That's just my two cents though. Can't go wrong with a V6 or V8 though!

I would go for the V8 coupe. I debated getting a convertible, but the coupe is more practical for me in Michigan and the torque and HP of a V8 is like a drug when I put my foot down.

Sounds like you are torn between 2 very different cars so only you can decide that really.

One thing to consider is the verts are heavier by perhaps 200 lbs so the added weight to the smaller engine doesn't help with performance thats for sure.

I have V8 with a sunroof and I find it gives me the fresh air I need with the power I crave.

I had an SS coupe for 3.5 years and have had a ZL1 convertible for the past 4.5. So I got nothing for you:iono: Except I'm also in the great white north and have a lot of money tied up in something I only use 7 months/yr.

I say V8 coupe with sunroof. If you absolutely have to have a convertible, then get an increase on the loan and get a V8 convertible. If you only have $25k cash, then get a loan for the difference. Leave the V6's for the teenagers, women, people who make mistakes, and the car rental companies.

If you plan to drive the car often a v6 is good on gas compared to a v8 - that is why I got the v6 and do not regret it much.

I can break all the speed limits no problem with my v6 and have no desire to endanger myself or others by racing so I do not need a v8.

The only need for a v8 in my eyes is because they sound much cooler if you modify them.

This should be interesting. Op take them both out for a test drive.
