Cam specs

I'm having this cam put in next week at LMR.

236/250 .624/.624 on a 114

What do the resident experts think of these numbers? I know a bit about a bit, but not much about the LS3 itself (trying to learn).

Anyone have a video of something close or similar?

Thanks guys!

:pop2:

What are your plans with the car, and other supporting mods?

litle88 06-07-2013 06:04 PM

Do tell me more about your combo!!

Love the cam specs for sure. Will you be adding gears?

thahemp 06-07-2013 06:52 PM

I like em too.

This guy is actually pretty close to what you've got spec'd out there.

And his dyno.

I dont really have any other mods planned right now. Maybe Fast intake and a little dope down the road?

Right now its just LMR CAI, cam and (when they get in) longtubes. The car gets done tomorrow hopefully. I know it wont reach its full potential without the LTH, hopefully they hurry up and get here so I can put them on and re tune. TSP just says that it will be before the end of the month.

I havent really given much thought to gears. What would you suggest?

I like those numbers.

I love how it sounds too.

I think LMR set me up with a winner.

I think most people are pretty happy with 3.91s. I know those are on my list for someday.

thahemp 06-11-2013 01:36 PM

I was originally going to get the 3.70 gears from Lingenfelter for the longest time since they are made by the same manufacturer that makes the OEM gears. Now we can use the 1LE gears too.

turbolvr321 06-11-2013 01:45 PM

I have given thought to the 3.91s.

I want to see what the car feels like first. Of course after I get the longtubes and throw them on. I just got really tired of how sluggish the car feels from the factory. I hope the tune plus throwing a couple extra ponies at it will wake it up a bit.

A lot of people say gears was their favorite mod. If that cam doesn't make much low end power over stock, then you'll really want to do the gears. I think "Wait and see" is the responsible way to approach the question.

I think that's a bit big for an amateur/novice to start with.....but to each his own. Are you planning on racing or just daily driven? There are a lot of variables that come with large cams that I hope you addressed with the shop. Good luck.

turbolvr321 06-11-2013 02:09 PM

Im only an amateur/novice with the LS3 platform. I have driven and owned a couple cam F bodies and fox bodies.

It will do both. Race Sunday drive Monday type deal.

What other variables? The valvetrain is also being upgraded etc.

Luckily, living in Texas my Harley is more of my DD.

Im pretty sure gears will be coming eventually... I dont doubt it one bit. My major halt is my last "build" that I did gears etc on ended up with a turbo set up. Then everything I spent the time and money on to make it quick N/A plus a little dope had to be reversed (LTH, 4.10 gears mainly)

Not saying a turbo kit is in the future, not saying it isnt. :noidea: But I would like to not have to re do work I have already done. Again. Lol.

Ah, well, that changes things a bit. I just see so many who just do what others do.....and shoot for big hp #'s and don't look at all the other things involved.
