Laguna Seca Day
I am hitting a road course for the first time (Laguna Seca), and it is a bucket list item for me to do so. I am super fortunate I get to do it in a Camaro 1LE. I don't think it will become a regular thing, maybe just every once and a while. Before then, I am planning on a Detroit Speeds rear sway bar, goodridge brake lines with Motul RBF600 Change, Stoptech pads/rotors, & new tires.
Some helpful advice is appreciated :thanks: |
- Look ahead, further than you think you need to
- Double check the torque on your wheels - Bouncing off of curbs at speed is hard on a car, if you choose to do this you may want to double check your alignment after - Put shoepolish or a tire marker on the edges of your tires and keep an eye so they don't roll, you may even need to air up your tires - Change your oil & filter after the track day |
man I'm jealous, have a blast out there!

Buy track insurance. Even if you aren't "pushing" yourself, other people are pushing themselves and your regular insurance will not cover anything. Track insurance is between $100 and $150 per $10K of coverage. So if you figure your car is worth $30K, then it'll cost you $300 to $450 and is money well spent.
Bring fluids. I'm not talking about brake fluid and oil, but water. It's a long day and very tiring. Bring food. Bring a lawn chair or other device by which you can sit. Bring sun block and a baseball cap or other neck covering. Make sure you have enough pads (at least 50%) and tread to pass tech. |
Awesome thanks all! Who do you get track insurance through?

Hagerty has begun offering track day insurance and I find theirs to be pretty reasonable. You can get an online quote on their site too.

Not as much as it thought for events $181 for up to 3 days for 25,000
Now can they insure tires? hehe |
yeah Hagerty is $165 for 3 days no time trials at $30k with a 10% deductable with towing, rental, and track cleanup covered as well...worth it.

I haven't done Hagerty's before, but at that price, I'm in!

The time trial part of the insurance is just going for local best time. Do most events do those?
I would assume as a beginner one would not need that part. |
