Door lock?
:iono:Curious if anyone knows why the power door lock button ended up on the center console. Maybe Fbodfather can answer this question. If this has been covered in a previous post, please accept my apologies. Long day and too tired to search.

Just designed to be there. Saves the need to have and wire 2 lock switches.
|
It seems to me that since it's in the middle, it doesn't have to be on each door. I like it.

Harder for someone to carjack your Camaro :sm0:

Are there any other vehicles with the same feature? :iono:Just the first I've ever seen it there. Were they thinking outside the box?:iono:

The G8 had all the switches in the center. Mini cooper does too. I'm sure it helps with LHD/RHD conversions. It also makes sense to have one center switch versus a separate switch for each side.

yeah my crossfire has all the buttons in the middle including windows
|
the mini's are the same way. the toggle switches are kinda cool.

In my 2nd gen Camaro the power window switches were is to center console. I wonder why if thay put the door lock switch in the center why did that put the window switches on the doors?
|
I've seen them on a lot of European cars and some in India. I kinda like it.
Also I think it saves the possible water damage that could happen to the locks if they are on the doors... like when you leave the windows open when the car is parked and you get stuck in a freak summer rainstorm. |
Makes since...the door windows are frame-less and very small. It would be too easy to unlock the doors if you had the switch on the doors.
