Pulley upgrade complete ..done for now..maybe

Ok, earlier this month I had the ATI 10% crank and damper installed (already had the RotoFab cai in) w/tune...it dyno'd 548 RWHP, 538 RWTQ

Today, had the Lingenfelter 2.55 upper w/hub, ID850 injectors, and NGK TR7IX plugs installed with tune....now at 15psi.
So, for now I'm done....will probably get a dyno run in the next few weeks to see what the gains were from above.

Like to give a shout out to Nomad Mobile Tuning & Performance as Matthew & Jimmy did a great job working all day to get this just right.

How did it feel after the first round of mods? I'm considering a similar setup. Did you have a stock dyno run for comparison?

cal45 06-28-2015 08:49 PM

After the 1st round w/the lower & tune, it really woke up the car and made it feel (to me), what it should have from the factory. The boost was in the 11-12 psi range. No baseline dyno as the work was done in my garage.

You're probably right, maybe the ZL1 should've come with more hp from the factory. I guess at the time is was the most powerful pony car, though it didn't last long. It's still a quick car from the factory but being a heavyweight keeps it from being even quicker.

Agree with you in regards when the ZL1 first came out in 2012, it was at the top for American HP (but not for long). As stock, the car is sneaky fast - meaning that it doesn't throw you back in your seat but before you know it, you're going faster than you thought as the car handles so well. Adding the lower 10% pulley w/a tune really makes a difference. I would have been ok stopping there but I planned to do both pulley swaps but didn't realize the high cost of the ID850 injectors....so I wound up doing them (pulleys) one at a time as I needed to build up my mod fund.....it also gives me a good gauge on the gains that each pulley provides.

The LSA really respond well to boost, but don't get crazy with it and the car will be fine. Most of my ZL1 clients do the intake, throttle body, headers, Injectors, 2.55 pulley and the Tampa Tuning dyno tuning, and are between 580-600 RWHP with most at the 590 RWHP level. Its fun street car power with no drivable issues.

Add the lower pulley and your at 620 to 640 RWHP and a mid 10 second Camaro with A/C to pick up the kids after school with. Cant beat that.

I noticed you didn't mention an heat exchanger. Is it not necessary at this level? Are these numbers for autos or manuals?

What octane is needed to safely run the upper and lower pulley combo?

can't wait to see results, I'm thinking of doing the 10% lower to go with my 2.55 upper soon

It wont per say help your dyno numbers, but will return the IAT2s to a lower temperature quicker so it wont pull timing. Its a good mod.

93 octane. Just don't kill it with timing and make sure the fuel system is keeping up.

Well, no Dyno Tune today as the shop (Titan Motorsports) had their bay door open while a quick moving storm hit at lunch time, rain made it inside and hit the computer - so the dyno was unavailable for me at 2PM. They will reschedule with me once they get it back up.

When I arrived this twin turbo Supra was ahead of me on the Dyno waiting for the computer to boot (it did not)....Titan MS built this and they were figuring on 800 or more RWHP. So as I was waiting took this pic (my ZL1 is up on the right of the frame waiting on next).

Did you ever get to the dyno with the added 2.55 upper?
