Supercharged 2011 Camaro SS Takes On Supercharged 1968 Camaro at the Track
The 1968 Camaro owned by Carl Casanova for the last 30 years sports an array of upgrades the most important of which lies under the hood as it is powered by an LS1 V8 from a 2002 Camaro aided by a Magnuson supercharger. It also gets a six-speed Tremec T56 transmission from the same car, front brakes from a Corvette C4 and rear brakes from a 1990s Camaro Z28.
The newer 2011 Camaro SS has been modified by Hotchkis and also features a Magnuson supercharger bolted onto the 6.2-liter V8 producing somewhere north of 500 ponies, while it rides on meaty 275/40ZR20 tires up front and 315/35ZR20 at the back. |
I figured the much lighter 68 would trounce the Gen 5...must be something to getting the power to the ground effectively...Chasis engineering is as important as horsepower...(you hearing this GT500?)

12.6 @ 116... in the 2011 with those mods.. Seriously?
That's nothing to be proud of... not in the slightest. It's just going to give more fuel to those flaming the Camaro already.. |
